The Senior Safety Officer will oversee safety programs and compliance for our Boise-area operations, provide guidance to field and management teams, and proactively identify opportunities to reduce risk and prevent injuries.\nThe ideal candidate brings strong construction safety experience, sound judgment, and the ability to build trusted relationships with employees at all levels. This person should be comfortable balancing regulatory requirements with the realities of an active construction environment and leading with both firmness and tact.\n\nResponsibilities\nServe as the primary point of contact for safety-related questions, programs, and initiatives\nPromote and strengthen a proactive, prevention-focused safety culture across field and office teams\nConduct weekly jobsite safety inspections and provide findings and recommendations to project managers\nLead new employee safety orientations\nCoordinate and track required safety training, certifications, toolbox talks, corrective actions, and disciplinary documentation\nSupport train-the-trainer programs for forklifts, scissor lifts, and other applicable equipment\nDevelop and support procedures for jobsite operations involving confined spaces, fall hazards, and other higher-risk activities\nOrder, inspect, maintain, and manage personal protective equipment and other safety equipment\nManage Hazard Communication requirements, including GHS and SDS documentation\nCoordinate hazardous waste disposal, including items such as batteries, light bulbs, mercury, circuit boards, coil cleaner, and oil\nMonitor and work to improve key safety metrics, including EMR, TRIR, and DART\nReview project contracts and documentation for safety-related requirements\nComplete customer and project safety questionnaires\nLead, organize, and document recurring safety meetings, including foreman and company safety meetings\nIdentify and pursue applicable safety awards and recognition opportunities\nLead accident and injury investigations, documentation, and corrective action follow-through\nManage lost-time incident documentation and related safety processes\nMaintain OSHA 300 logs and other required safety records\nMaintain and support drug testing and near-miss reporting programs\nOversee compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, DOT, and local safety requirements\nSupport workers’ compensation, general liability, vehicle, and theft claims as needed\nMaintain building and workplace safety requirements, including fire extinguisher inspections, OSHA-required postings, and eyewash inspections\nStay current on evolving construction safety regulations, standards, and industry best practices\nPartner closely with project management, field leadership, and senior management to identify risks and implement practical solutions\n\nRequirements\nBachelor’s degree in risk management, safety engineering, industrial safety and health, safety management, or a closely related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will also be considered\nDemonstrated safety management experience, preferably within the construction industry\nStrong knowledge of construction safety practices and applicable OSHA requirements\nAbility to recognize jobsite hazards and take appropriate action with confidence, firmness, and tact\nStrong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with field employees, project teams, customers, and leadership\nAbility to independently manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment\nStrong sense of ownership, accountability, and follow-through\nDetail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, and results-driven\nStrong customer service mindset and understanding of appropriate project and customer communication protocols\nAbility to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team\nCommitment to Therma’s values and to creating a safe working environment for our employees and partners\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nOSHA 10 and/or OSHA 30 certification\nPrevious safety experience within mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, specialty construction, or a related contracting environment\nConstruction project management or field operations experience\nFirst Aid/CPR trainer certification\nExperience managing workers’ compensation, vehicle, general liability, or other safety-related claims\nExperience tracking and improving EMR, TRIR, DART, and other safety performance metrics\n\nBase salary: $110k-$145k per year.
