This position offers the opportunity to work with advanced technologies while contributing to groundbreaking scientific discoveries.\n\nRole Overview\nWe are looking for a highly experienced Lead Java Engineer with 12-15 years of software development experience and strong expertise in designing and developing scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems.\nThe ideal candidate should have deep hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST API development, database design, and backend integration. The candidate will be responsible for designing robust backend solutions, developing enterprise-grade services, integrating with internal and external systems, and providing technical leadership to engineering teams.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and services using Java and Spring Boot.\nDefine and drive backend design principles, coding standards, and engineering best practices.\nDesign and develop secure, reliable, and well-structured RESTful APIs.\nDefine API contracts, request/response models, error-handling mechanisms, and versioning strategies.\nDesign efficient and scalable relational and/or NoSQL database models.\nDevelop and optimize database queries, indexing strategies, and data-access layers.\nIntegrate backend applications with databases, third-party services, enterprise platforms, and external systems.\nDesign and implement backend integration patterns for reliable data exchange across systems.\nDevelop reusable backend components, libraries, and common services.\nEnsure backend systems meet requirements for performance, scalability, availability, security, and maintainability.\nIdentify and resolve complex application, API, database, and integration-related issues.\nConduct code reviews and ensure adherence to software engineering and secure coding standards.\nCollaborate with frontend developers, technical leads, product owners, QA engineers, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders.\nParticipate in technical design discussions, solution reviews, estimation, and implementation planning.\nMentor and provide technical guidance to backend developers.\nDrive improvements in automated testing, build processes, CI/CD, deployment, and observability practices.\nRequired Technical Skills\n12-15 years of overall software development experience, with significant experience in backend application development.\nStrong hands-on expertise in Java and object-oriented programming.\nStrong experience with Spring Boot and the broader Spring ecosystem.\nStrong experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend services.\nGood understanding of API design principles, HTTP standards, authentication, authorization, and error handling.\nStrong experience in database design, data modeling, normalization, and performance optimization.\nExperience with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or equivalent technologies.\nStrong proficiency in SQL and database query optimization.\nExperience with ORM and persistence frameworks such as Spring Data JPA, Hibernate, or equivalent technologies.\nStrong understanding of backend integration patterns and enterprise application integration.\nExperience integrating applications with internal and external services through REST APIs, messaging, or other integration mechanisms.\nGood understanding of concurrency, multithreading, asynchronous processing, and transaction management.\nExperience developing modular, reusable, and maintainable backend components.\nStrong understanding of application security and secure API development.\nFamiliarity with unit testing, integration testing, and automated testing frameworks.\nExperience with source control systems such as Git.\nUnderstanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern software development practices.\nPreferred Skills\nExperience working on large-scale enterprise applications and distributed systems.\nExperience with microservices-based applications.\nKnowledge of messaging technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, JMS, or equivalent solutions.\nExperience with caching technologies such as Redis or similar platforms.\nExperience with API documentation tools such as
