Our laboratory equipment products are used primarily by pharmaceutical companies for drug discovery and development and by biotechnology companies and universities for life science research to advance the prevention and cure of diseases and enhance quality of life. Our offering consists of equipment, accessories, and services for sample preparation, storage and protection, and analysis.\nTo learn more about our Marietta, Ohio site, including the work we do, our culture, and what makes the location unique, visit our Marietta careers page and watch the site video: Marietta | Thermo Fisher Scientific\nHow Will You Make an Impact?:\nThe Operator will support the manufacturing process by operating various machinery to provide high-quality parts for work cells to meet scheduled demands.\nA Day in the Life:\nSet up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data; continue operation to accomplish production goals.\nCalculate and set controls to supervise machine and enter commands to edit program in order to accomplish quality production goals.\nConfirm accuracy of first set ups regarding size, build, forming sequence, etc., using test pieces and again with first production piece and at subsequent intervals.\nStudy blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to resolve dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.\nObserve machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance results, and adjust machine controls or control settings as required.\nTroubleshoot work-related problems by applying knowledge and experience to efficiently maintain production/quality goals with minimal attrition to equipment.\nUse computer (SAP) system shared plant-wide to accomplish and track production data.\nMeasure, count, coordinate materials and parts to monitor production quality and volume.\nClean scale or scrap from die with air hose or brush to achieve quality.\nGrinds out burrs and sharp edges, using portable grinder to achieve quality.\nEducation: High school diploma or equivalent required.\nExperience:\nRequired: Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a manufacturing, operations, production, lab setting or related field\nPreferred: Experience in a cGMP environment\nKnowledge, Skills, Abilities:\nAbility to read and differentiate part numbers, labels, and work instructions.\nComputer and keyboarding.\nFamiliarity or ability to read part drawings.\nGrowth mindset and eagerness to learn\nAbility to adhere to safety standards and work safely around moving equipment\nPhysical Requirements / Work Environment:\nStanding, bending, reaching and handling bulky parts is common to the job.
