We provide our global teams with the resources needed to achieve individual career goals while helping to take science a step beyond by developing solutions for some of the world’s toughest challenges, like protecting the environment, making sure our food is safe or helping find cures for cancer.\nSoftware Engineer\nJob Summary\nDevelop and maintain software for semiconductor equipment and factory automation systems.\nDesign and implement software solutions based on customer requirements using C#, C++, or other programming languages.\nIntegrate semiconductor equipment with factory systems and automated material handling systems.\nPerform software testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and performance improvements.\nTroubleshoot software and equipment connectivity issues in Windows environments.\nSupport software installation, integration, testing, and validation at customer sites.\nMaintain existing software applications and support new software releases.\nCollaborate with global R&D teams across the US, Europe, and Asia on software development and technical issue resolution.\nWork closely with customers to understand technical requirements, resolve issues, and ensure software operates as expected.\nWork regularly at customer sites in Korea, with occasional international travel as needed.\nDESCRIPTION:\nJoin the Thermo Fisher R&D Enhanced Value Solutions (EVS) team to develop Vulcan Lab Automation software for semiconductor customers in South Korea and beyond. Help connect electron microscopy systems with factory hosts, automated material handling, and process workflows.\nWhat will you do?\nPerform all phases of software development including technical assessment, design, implementation, testing, integration, maintenance, and software release for our process, factory automation, and automated material handling applications\nParticipate in code, design, and test plan reviews\nWork in an agile environment focused on customer responsiveness\n\nREQUIREMENTS:\nA bachelor’s or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or related field\n5+ years software development experience in C#, Java, C++, or another common language\nExperience with source control management, automated builds, and automated testing\nExperience with object-oriented programming (OOP) techniques and SOLID design principles\nExperience in semiconductor equipment integration, factory automation, system testing, or complex equipment support.\nAbility to troubleshoot Windows software, services, and configuration issues using logs and traces\nStrong customer communication and cross-team coordination skills\nKorean and English proficiency for customer collaboration and technical reporting\nAvailability for regular customer-site work and global travel between sites • A strong team spirit and collaborative mindset\nNICE TO HAVE's:\nExperience with equipment control software\nPractical knowledge of SECS-II, HSMS, and GEM\nExperience with MES/EAP integration, GEM300, or E84\nFamiliarity with SEM, TEM, FIB, or related inspection and sample preparation systems\nExperience with EFEMs, automated handlers, carrier identification, RFID, or robotic material transport\nFamiliarity with Jira, release validation, diagnostic packages, and customer acceptance
