At Western National, nice is something we work to bring to every person and organization with whom we partner and serve.\nDoes this opportunity interest you?\nWestern National is seeking a Commercial Lines Underwriter to join our team!\nThe individual in this role will have the opportunity to develop a book of business by writing and retaining commercial lines accounts through assigned agencies.\nWhat are the responsibilities and opportunities of this role?\nBuilds and maintains strong agency relationships. \nEffectively manages an agency territory to achieve established growth and profit goals.\nUses established practices, processes, procedures, and underwriting authority level to analyze the operations and exposures of different types of risks.\nAssesses risks and exposures on new and existing business to identify opportunities to maximize assigned territory loss ratio and growth objectives.\nExecutes policies within established authority level and established eligible risks.\nApplies basic knowledge of coverage / forms / symbols / endorsements per line of business.\nApplies basic knowledge of rating.\nWrites new business as defined by annual goals determined by the department.\nApplies knowledge to help solve problems of relatively limited scope and complexity.\nConsistently acts according to our customer experience standards, including responding quickly, maintaining a positive attitude, building rapport, demonstrating empathy, managing the customer’s expectations, using the proper communication channel for the situation, and taking ownership to ensure the customer’s issue is resolved.\nRequirements\nWhat are the must-have qualifications for a candidate?\nDemonstrated time management skills with ability to meet deadlines.\nStrong negotiation and relationship-building skills.\nAbility to exercise sound business judgement.\nProficient use of various core systems, office and computer equipment, and software packages.\nBachelor’s degree preferred, experience in lieu of degree acceptable.\nWhat will our ideal candidate have?\nDemonstrated intermediate organizational and prioritization skills with ability to accomplish multiple priorities.\nDemonstrated understanding of industry practices, standards, and underwriting concepts.\nDemonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.\nOne or more years of experience or exposure to underwriting concepts preferred. \nCompensation overview\nThe targeted hiring range for this role is $59,000 - $82,900, annually. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience of each candidate, as well as other factors such as the scope and location of the role.
