Interns receive practical project experience, professional development opportunities, exposure to multiple areas of the company, relationships with employees and fellow interns, and opportunities to participate in impactful volunteer initiatives within the community.\nPosition Summary:\nAs a Product Development Intern, you will support the work that helps Western National build, maintain, and improve personal and commercial insurance products. This is a Product Development role, not an actuarial position, but it may be a strong fit for students with actuarial, statistical, mathematical, or other quantitative backgrounds.\nAssist with compiling, organizing, validating, and analyzing information used in Product Development projects.\nReview and update forms, rates, rules, manuals, reports, templates, and other product materials for accuracy and completeness.\nIdentify and/or analyze straightforward trends, comparisons, and patterns and summarize findings for the Product Development team.\nResearch insurance requirements, market practices, and product information; identify questions and recommend practical solutions.\nCollaborate with Product Development and partners in Actuarial, Underwriting, Claims, Compliance, Operations, Technology, and Analytics.\nRequirements\nWhat You’ll Need to Succeed:\nCurrently pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Economics, Finance, Business, Insurance, or a related field preferred.\nInterest in learning how insurance products are structured, priced, documented, regulated, and administered.\nStrong analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to organize and interpret information.\nExperience with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, Word, and related data or document tools.\nStrong attention to detail and accuracy.\nWell-developed written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to prioritize work, meet deadlines, follow established procedures, and learn new systems.\nAbility to work onsite at our corporate office in Edina, MN.\nCompensation Overview:\nThe base pay for this position will be $20.00 per hour.\nMore About Western National Insurance Group:\nWestern National has long been known as “The Relationship Company®” and caring for our employees is part of that relationship commitment.
