The combined business now offers the most comprehensive suite of freight market intelligence available, and we are actively building the team to realise the full potential of the integration.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Sales Account Manager to join our Hamburg-based Alphaliner team. Alphaliner is a brand unto itself within the Signal Ocean × AXSMarine group, with hundreds of well-established clients across the container shipping industry.

This is a relationship-first role: your primary mandate is to own, protect, and grow a defined portfolio of Alphaliner accounts within an assigned geographical area, providing the client care, retention focus, and upsell/cross-sell attention needed to maximise the value of an already strong book of business.

You will report directly to the Commercial Director and join a small, agile team based in Hamburg - including fellow account managers (covering Dry and other portfolios) and the Alphaliner analyst team.

What You Will Do

• Own a defined portfolio of Alphaliner accounts, organised by geographical area, serving as the primary point of contact for day-to-day relationship management
• Lead renewal conversations commercially and independently, negotiating contract terms with confidence
• Conduct regular account reviews, business reviews, and check-ins to ensure clients are deriving full value from the platform
• Monitor account health, flag risks early, and develop mitigation plans before renewals are at risk
• Identify and pursue expansion opportunities within the existing account base - new users, additional products, and broader platform adoption
• Acquire new clients through proactive outreach and reactive response to inbound leads

Requirements

Required Skills

• Minimum 5 years' experience in the container shipping industry, with a genuine passion for the sector
• Proven account management experience and strength in relationship building
• Articulate, with strong presentation skills and a confident presence when speaking to clients
• Strong data manipulation skills, with a base knowledge of or interest in tools such as Power BI, Python, or MySQL

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Excellent memory and attention to detail
• Highly organised working style
• Experience working within a CRM, ideally Salesforce
