This includes but is not limited to handling guest transactions (admissions, concessions, gift shop), IMAX theater operations, and exhibit and program facilitation. This position engages with school groups, families, and many other diverse audiences on a daily basis to provide superior service and guest experience. This non-exempt position reports to the Guest Experiences Management team.\nResponsibilities\nGuest Transactions and IMAX Theater Operations\nOperate point of sale system for admission, concessions, and gift shop transactions. \nOperate the IMAX Media Control console and Spice Media Automation system. Monitor sound and image quality throughout the run of a film. \nHandle food transactions and inventory in concessions according to Department of Health standards.\nSupport pre-show guest entrance into IMAX\nPerform and delegate general housekeeping to maintain the appearance of the front of the house and the IMAX Theater.\n\nExhibit and Program facilitation\nLead experiences with diverse audiences in our most open-ended program spaces using our Design Challenge Learning facilitation style.\nParticipate in required and optional training sessions to build and maintain customer service and facilitation skills.\nMaintain cleanliness and organization of materials in exhibit and program spaces. \n\nGreet school groups providing welcoming and introductory information. \nMaintain current knowledge about The Tech's admission rates, membership options, special events, educational programs, and other visitor-related information.\nReport non-functioning exhibits, electronics, or lighting to the Engineering and Facilities staff in a timely manner.\nComplete additional related tasks or duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager.\nRequirements and skills\nMinimum High School Diploma; or AA or BA in a related field (or a combination of coursework towards a degree and relevant experience).\nAbility to engage and effectively communicate with diverse audiences in a variable-paced environment. \nExcellent customer service, public speaking, and listening skills.\nComputer literate (Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, internet).\nOne or more years of retail, sales, museum, and/or customer service experience preferred.\nExperience working with youth in a traditional or non-traditional educational setting is highly desired. \nWorking Conditions and Schedule\nThis is an onsite position. \nWeekends and evenings are required. Availability will vary based on The Tech’s operating schedule, including evenings and offsite events.\nThis is an on-call position and shifts will be offered based on business need; shift times will be variable. \nSignificant periods of standing, walking, or sitting within an assigned space.
