An individual coming to Zenith will not only receive competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, but continuous opportunities to grow as a professional.Overview\nWith limited direction of managing attorney, performs duties of legal counsel on complex legal matters in the defense and representation of the Company in a variety of courts of law, and other related appearances.Responsibilities\nThe essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: \nHandles highly complex cases under the state administrative process (trial level). \nDefends workers' compensation cases. \nTakes depositions, analyzes testimony, prepares and files related reports. \nRepresents the Company in appearances at hearings and conferences; prepares and files related reports. \nResearches and prepares highly complex pleadings for cases under the, state administrative process (trial level). \nProvides advice, training, and recommendations on case handling strategies and tactics to representatives of the Claims department. \nPerforms legal research at all levels, from advising clients through the appellate procedures. \nActs as inter-departmental training seminar leader. \nMay assist in training Trial Attorney I and II. \nApply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. \nResponds positively to direction and critique of performance. \nConsistently maintain professional and appropriate demeanor. \nPerforms other duties as assigned. \nEducation\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience Req \nJuris Doctorate Law school graduate and member in good standing of the State Bar Req \nWork Experience\n7+ years as a Trial Attorney for legal defense of workers' compensation claims Req \nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nAbility to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, in an articulate, persuasive, precise and professional manner. \nExperience with training small groups in current legal practices and procedures in the field of workers’ compensation defense and subrogation. \nAbility to lift legal files, including documents and exhibits, up to a weight of 15 pounds. \nMust be willing and able to travel extensively using all means of public transportation, as well as capable of prolonged automobile driving, in excess of three hours a day, to widely dispersed venues. \nValid Driver License in good standing. \nPay, Benefits, and Other Information\nThe expected salary range for this position is $152,197.51 to $190,246.89. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law.
