This role plays a key part in supporting our client’s strategic initiatives by ensuring that overhead and underground electric distribution construction projects are executed efficiently, safely, and in alignment with company and client standards.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nProvide Field Construction Management services to oversee construction of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems, including the installation, replacement, and removal of poles, conductors, reclosers, underground cables, conduits, transformers, switches, disconnects, cross arms, anchors, and other related components.\nCoordinate, oversee, and schedule all field construction activities to support the delivery of electric power in collaboration with key stakeholders, including internal teams, developers, and contracted crews.\nPlan, organize, and monitor contractor performance within assigned project areas.\nConduct field inspections and review completed work to ensure compliance with DTE specifications, safety standards, and project requirements.\nWork with project management and operations teams to validate as-built versus as-billed documentation for accuracy and billing integrity.\nCollaborate with Distribution Operations Technicians, engineering, planning, and design leads to ensure one-line diagrams, maps, and GIS data are accurate and up to date.\nLead and participate in pre-construction meetings, ensuring proper communication of project scope, schedule, and safety expectations.\nInterpret, adhere to, and enforce company and client safety policies, the National Electric Safety Code (NESC), and other applicable standards.\nIdentify and communicate construction issues, providing recommendations for process improvements and corrective actions.\nProvide technical direction, mentorship, and field guidance to construction contractors and client crews.\nTrack contractor performance metrics and maintain accurate documentation of construction progress and compliance.\nServe as the subject matter expert for DTE’s electrical distribution construction activities within the Michigan Electric Service Territory.\nSupport continuous improvement efforts and contribute to operational excellence in project execution.\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\nComprehensive understanding of overhead and underground electric distribution systems and construction practices.\nStrong working knowledge of DTE construction specifications, standards, and safety requirements preferred.\nProficiency in GIS mapping systems, Maximo, Argus, and MS Office Suite.\nAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, construction plans, and work orders.\nStrong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.\nAbility to manage multiple projects, prioritize work, and adapt to changing priorities.\nCommitment to safety, quality, and client satisfaction.\nThe successful candidate will demonstrate excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills, making them an invaluable asset to our team and ensuring the smooth, compliant execution of key construction projects.\nPhysical Demands and Work Environment:\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
