Thomson Reuters is a Canadian information company created in 2008 when the Thomson Corporation acquired the British news and data group Reuters, and it now sells research, workflow software and analytics rather than raw information. Its largest businesses serve law firms and corporate counsel through Westlaw and Practical Law, tax and accounting professionals through Checkpoint and ONESOURCE, and corporate risk and compliance teams through screening and investigation products, alongside the Reuters news agency. Headquartered in Toronto and listed in Toronto and New York, it has invested heavily in generative assistants embedded directly in those professional workflows.

Legal Research Analyst

Job Description

Thomson Reuters is seeking Legal Research Analysts to join a high-impact initiative shaping the future of legal research. In this role, you'll use your legal knowledge and analytical skills alongside cutting-edge AI technology to build connections between state trial court orders, helping create a smarter, more comprehensive legal research experience for professionals worldwide. You will work closely with AI-generated outputs and internal tools to confirm connections between trial court orders, contributing to a large-scale content expansion effort.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze legal information sets, identifying relationships and gaps across trial court orders and related content.

  • Make qualitative judgments about the accuracy and relevance of AI-suggested connections, applying sound legal and analytical judgment.

  • Interpret, analyze, organize, and express complex legal material quickly and accurately.

  • Document findings and validation outcomes to support the broader content acquisition initiative.

  • Work independently on assigned validation tasks while contributing to team-wide project goals and deadlines.

  • Verify and validate AI-generated suggestions for state trial court order connections within the KeySite History product.

  • Collaborate with the Product Manager and internal stakeholders to support project scope, quality, and progress toward acquisition targets.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (J.D. not required).

  • Comfort working with AI-generated tools and outputs; no specialized legal research tools experience needed.

  • Ability to interpret, analyze, organize, and express complex legal material quickly and accurately.

  • Ability to work independently, consistently meet deadlines, and achieve individual objectives within larger team projects.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Ability to adapt to evolving tools, priorities, and operational requirements.

  • Availability for a fixed-term contract through December 2027.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Legal background such as legal assistant, paralegal experience, or current law student status.

  • Familiarity with legal content structures, such as case law or court order documentation.

  • Experience with AI-assisted tools or platforms in a professional or academic setting.
