The position is responsible for assembling and packaging. As part of our LEAN Manufacturing business strategy, the position is located within a work “cell” assembling a variety of components ranging in complexity throughout the day. Although the location of the position is in Newton, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations.\nEssential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:\nMust be able to understand written work instructions for a wide range of products to properly assemble the final product to the highest of quality standards and with zero scrap or rework.\nAssemble and package components and products of varying size and complexity that includes cleaning, inspecting and testing of assembled components and assemblies.\nMeets the expected assembly timelines that are outlined on the production orders\nAsk questions when instructions are not understood or clear\nAssists in inventory Cycle counting as needed and notify supervisor of low stock levels.\nPerforms any combination of the above duties from the functions above. Cross-train on various functions in order to provide flexibility and support across production operations.\nMust maintain a safe and clean working environment through compliance with procedures, policies and regulations.\nIn addition to the essential functions and duties listed above, all positions are also responsible for:\nMeeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.\nAdhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.\nThe Company retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position.\nPhysical Activities: Work may be active, could stand or sit for long durations and/or perform repetitious work at times. The employee may lift or move objects up to 20 pounds. Employees must grasp, manipulate, or assemble parts and components that are often very small. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, may be noisy at times. Must be able to wear appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment such as but not limited to masks, glasses, gloves, and specialty garments. The required PPE and training allow for the safe handling and processing of chemicals like adhesives, lubricants and solvents, and safe operation of job-related equipment and tools.\nRequirements\nExperience:\nMinimum 1 year of experience in a similar position preferred.\nEducation:\nHigh School diploma or equivalent\nSpecialized Knowledge and Skills:\nMust be able to understand written work instructions. \nStrong attention to detail\nDemonstrated ability to work in a team environment and comply with high quality standards.\nStrong ability to shift from one task to another to address changing production priorities.\nPay rate for this position is $18.00 per hour\nThorlabs values its diverse environment and is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
