The range of these data sets include manufacturing, engineering, marketing, sales, pricing, and ERP. The Data Analyst will be able to autonomously analyze qualitative data, trends, strategies, and markets aimed at increasing the company’s competitiveness. Although the location of the position is in Newton, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations.\nEssential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:\nCollect, clean, and analyze large datasets from various sources to identify patterns, trends, and correlations using tools such as SQL, Python, or Power BI.\nDevelop and implement data models, algorithms, and statistical techniques to extract insights and generate reports, dashboards, and visualizations that inform data-driven decision-making.\nConduct thorough data validation and quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy, integrity, and consistency of data.\nInterpret data findings and provide actionable recommendations to stakeholders, including business leaders and other relevant teams, to drive business performance and optimize operational processes.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute data-driven strategies that align with business objectives.\nStay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data analysis, and apply them to improve data-driven decision-making within the organization.\nParticipate in data governance initiatives, including data documentation, data lineage, and data security, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and data standards.\nLead improvement initiatives where needed.\nDetermine and clarify strategic and operational issues via consultation.\nTrack success of key initiatives (Corporate Initiatives, Kaizens, Product Line Reviews).\nAid Managers/Supervisors in area performance capture and presentation.\nCompile and present information verbally, visually and in writing\nOccasionally lead operational training initiatives \nIn addition to the essential functions and duties listed above, all positions are also responsible for:\nMeeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is compliant with all Company policies and procedures.\nAdhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.\nThe Company retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position.\nAnnual salary range for this position is $75,000 - $94,000 depending on experience\nRequirements\nExperience:\nEntry level to 1 year experience with data visualization best practices and the ability to create visually compelling reports, dashboards, and visualizations that effectively communicate complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders.\nFamiliarity with data validation, data quality assurance, and data cleansing techniques to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency.\nEducation:\nBachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Computer Science or related fields\nSpecialized Knowledge and Skills:\nStrong proficiency with data analysis techniques and tools, such as SQL, Python, Power BI, or Excel.\nKnowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, and data integration concepts.\nAbility to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to analyze data, identify patterns, trends, and correlations, and provide actionable recommendations for business decision-making.\nExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate complex data findings to diverse audiences.\nExperience with machine learning, predictive analytics, or data mining techniques is a plus.\nThorlabs values its diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
