You will work on problems like keeping a 200-person meeting stable when half the participants are on hotel Wi-Fi, getting screen sharing to stay crisp at low bandwidth, and cutting join times so a meeting starts the moment someone clicks the link.\nThis is a hands-on engineering role with real ownership. You will design features, dig into packet captures when calls go wrong, and help shape the architecture as we scale.\nWhat You Will Do\nBuild and improve the WebRTC media pipeline across web, desktop, and mobile clients, including audio, video, screen sharing, and data channels\n\nDevelop and scale our Selective Forwarding Unit (SFU) and signaling services to support large meetings, webinars, and breakout rooms\n\nTune congestion control, bandwidth estimation, simulcast, and SVC layer selection so calls adapt gracefully to poor networks\n\nOwn call quality end to end: define metrics, build dashboards, investigate issues using getStats, RTC event logs, and packet traces, and ship fixes\n\nWork on NAT traversal and connectivity, including STUN/TURN infrastructure, ICE behavior, and fallbacks for restrictive corporate networks\n\nCollaborate with client, backend, security, and product teams on features like recording, live captions, noise suppression, and end-to-end encryption\n\nReview code, mentor other engineers, and help set technical direction for the real-time stack\n\nWhat We’re Looking For\nMore than five years of software engineering experience, with at least three years working directly on WebRTC or other real-time media systems\n\nDeep understanding of the WebRTC stack: SDP, ICE, DTLS, SRTP, and how they fit together in practice\n\nExperience building or operating an SFU or MCU, whether custom or based on open-source projects such as mediasoup, Janus, Jitsi, Pion, or LiveKit\n\nSolid knowledge of audio and video codecs (Opus, VP8, VP9, AV1, H.264) and their trade-offs\n\nStrong skills in at least one of C++, Kotlin, Go,or Rust, plus comfort with TypeScript/JavaScript for browser-side work\n\nA methodical approach to debugging distributed, latency-sensitive systems where the root cause might be the network, the device, or the code\n\nClear communication and the ability to explain complex media problems to people outside the team\n\nNice to Have\nContributions to libwebrtc or open-source WebRTC projects\n\nExperience with Insertable Streams / SFrame for end-to-end encrypted media\n\nBackground in audio processing (echo cancellation, noise suppression, AGC) or ML-based media enhancement\n\nExperience running media infrastructure on Kubernetes across multiple regions\n\nFamiliarity with interoperability standards such as SIP or integrating with PSTN gateways\n\nWhat We Offer\nA young, motivated team with straightforward communication\n\nFlexible working hours, option to work from home up to two days per week\n\nOption to work from anywhere for two weeks per year\n\nOption to take unpaid leave\n\nYou can choose your own hardware (macOS or Linux)\n\nPublic transportation discount or parking space (electric car charging available)\n\nFree use of fitness room, including a fitness trainer once a month\n\nProfessional massage once a month\n\nInternal German or English courses\n\nA great coffee machine ;-)\n\nRegular company events and aperitifs\n\nThe good feeling of contributing to the effective protection of the privacy of millions of people\n\nPlace of work: Pfäffikon SZ (Greater Zurich Area)\nStart date: Immediately or by agreement\nHave we sparked your interest?\nWe believe that diverse teams build better products.
