The Associate Application Engineer works with or is mentored by experienced Application Engineers to get work done in individual application components or subsystems within the scope of larger applications. The Associate Application Engineer works in a team environment.\nJob Responsibilities and Duties\nProvide support for business applications (proprietary and/or vendor applications) including:Enhancement and/or new development work on projects\nUpgrades to existing systems\nRoutine maintenance and support activities\nParticipation in on-call rotation to provide 24x7 support for existing systems.\n\nWork collaboratively in a team environment with business resources and other application engineers. Use established agile methodologies and tools to identify, verify and document technical features that support development of business-driven technology solutions.\nWork with other application engineers to ensure that the affected application components function appropriately, data impacts are considered, and other areas of change management are addressed.\nDevelop, integrate, test, debug and document application components using a variety of technologies.\nInstall application components by following implementation and verification procedures to ensure the successful implementation of systems.\nJob Qualifications\nRequired:\nBachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, business, mathematics or related field.\n0-3 years’ technical experience.\nExperience with Java and SQL. \nExperience with or ability to learn development languages, tools, and structures.\nExperience with or ability to learn vendor package implementation.\nBusiness knowledge for the area of support.\nPreferred:\nExperience with development languages, tools, and structures (e.g., Java, OpenShift, SQL, Snowflake, dbt, GitHub, PowerBI or similar technologies).\nOther Critical Factors\nStrong critical thinking abilities to assess an application system and design changes within the convention of the system.\nAbility to make sound judgments when evaluating the business and technical environment and assessing technical solutions.\nStrong abilities in troubleshooting and problem solving.\nDemonstrates a continuous learning mindset.\nWorks effectively as a member of a cross functional team iterating on solutions while providing 24x7 support for production systems.\nAdditional Information\nThis position requires you to work on-site in Minneapolis, MN a minimum of three days a week.\nPay TransparencyThrivent’s long-term growth depends on attracting, rewarding, and retaining people who are committed to helping others thrive with purpose. The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $77,478.00 - $104,823.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions.
