Success in this role requires strong systems-level judgment, the ability to operate platforms as products (where engineering teams are your customers), and the credibility to lead through influence - evangelizing the \"why\" and bringing engineering teams along while collaborating closely with product, design, and senior technology leaders.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:\nDesigning Solutions\nApply expert industry knowledge and broad understanding of multiple disciplines with technical knowledge focused on content management, digital delivery, experimentation, mobile/web app engineering, observability & analytics, and devex.\n\nArticulate how components interact across product groups and how architectural choices improve delivery speed, quality, reliability, and customer outcomes.This includes cross-channel solution designs & architecture for CEP capabilities\n\nAbility to work and problem solveindependently on initiatives that align to the broader software engineering strategy.\n\nImplementing Solutions\nUse independent, critical thinking to solve complex problems which are significant to the customer. Uses application and system data, as well as past experiences to inform decision making.\n\nLeader in technical expertise; Develops most architecturally impactful components of solutions.\n\nEmbed withteams as needed to create engineering structures/patterns that enable the team to work collaboratively and effectively.This includes embedding withCEP platform engineers to unblock implementation.\n\nCreates new development frameworks and collaborates with the team to create solution componentsthat accelerate adoptionof paved paths across web, mobile, and content-driven experiences.\n\nLearning and Applying New Techniques\nLeads the initiative to research new techniques along with best practices and share it across organization.\n\nCollaborating Within the Team\nParticipate in team’scollaboration session to provide technical expertiseto solve most complex and/or architecturally impactful problem/remove technical roadblocks for the team.\n\nParticipate in product planning and implementation. Work in collaboration with other product teams to provide technical expertiseto engineers across the company.\n\nCreates design patterns for the enterprise and providestechnology insights that guide the strategic technology vision for the organization.\n\nProvides the feedback loop from teams back to operations as new requirements for operationalizing products become necessary. May do this through PoCsor full implementations.\n\nSetting Product/Platform Technology Strategy\nDefine the high-level capabilities requirements for the product/ platform and collaborate with the teams across the organization.\n\nProvide platform technology expertiseto teams within product group as well as interdependent teams across the organization.\n\nDefining Engineering Standards/Patterns\nPartner with the engineering community inside and outside Thrivent in establishingbest practices.\n\nDefine and share engineering standards across internal teams and collaborate to help engineers apply these patterns to build solutions that achieve outcomes.\n\nParticipates in external activities including open-source software contributions and meetups.\n\nDevOps\nLead the resolution of critical incidents and providestechnical leadership in proactively addressing critical production issues/outages.\n\nAble to assess and introduce technology to build more stable, scalable, and resilient software.\n\nEvaluate, recommendand execute new CI/CD components to make the products more stable for a given area.\n\nBuild partnershipacross technical areas to influence when needed.\n\nSelecting and Managing Technology Vendors\nConsults on the evaluation process for software solutions - provides technical adviseon how solutions play into the larger strategy of product areas.\n\nContribute incriteria evaluation for selecting the right platforms and softwaresfor the product team.\n\nCoaching Engineers\nProvide guidance and reinforcement around established engineering best practices across product groups and the organization.\n\nProvide technical leadership and mentoring to other engineers across the organization.\n\nProvide trainingsand demos to address knowledge gaps across teams and product groups.\n\nRecruiting and Building Talent\nEngage in the tech community to build the Thrivent technology brand and position as the employer of choice in the market.\n\nContributes / helps in the recruitment process to hire the right engineering talent for the organization.\n\nModels Thrivent’s leadership competencies: Model the Way, Rally the Team, and Deliver Outcomes.\n\nSupports and/or develops an environment in which Thrivent employees and colleagues are focused on continuous improvement, exceptional employee engagement, and an unwavering commitment to our clients. The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $161,436.00 - $218,415.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions.
