You’ll provide direction and guidance over how our digital web and mobile experience is designed, both functionally and aesthetically, and play an active role in feedback and iteration throughout the life cycle. This role will simultaneously bring to life a blank canvas while also diving into user experience and designing details of new experiences. \n\nJob Duties and Responsibilities\nCreate world-class, user-centered designs based on research, business needs, analytics & user feedback in an agile environment.\nDemonstrate experience participating in white-boarding sessions, design thinking and story mapping exercises.\nDesign UX and interaction flows of responsive web and mobile experiences.\nDevelop conceptual sketches, visual mockups, navigation flows, storyboards, wireframes, and interactive prototypes to form and communicate design ideas.\nWork on projects as a solo designer or design leader.\nEducate others and contribute to the evolution of our design process.\nLead the design effort on programs you are working on.\nLead user testing to gauge the usability of new and existing products.\nDevelop interactive prototypes (ranging from low- to high-fidelity with interactions and visual design) and iterate based on user insight and stakeholder/user feedback.\nDemonstrate strong visual design skills and careful attention to detail in delivering on-brand, high-quality, development-ready responsive UI designs for web and mobile platforms, incorporating accessibility best practices.\nEvolve and develop the design system and library.\nPartner with developers and other cross-functional teams to assess and optimize new and existing features and page templates, and support accurate implementation of approved designs.\nGive and receive feedback generously, advocate for quality, learn new tools and processes, grow your craft in new ways, and stay up to date on UX/UI and accessibility best practices.\nPresent your concepts and designs with a point of view, and be able to communicate your vision, ideas, process, and decisions.\n\nRequired\nPortfolio of work samples that demonstrates your design work and original approaches to challenges.\nBachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Digital Design, Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) or related fields.\n5+ years of experience as an interaction designer, user interface designer, or similar role.\nExpert-level proficiency with UX design-related software and tools (e.g., Figma and Adobe Creative Suite).\nStrong visual design skills that include typography, animation, iconography, color and composition.\nExperience in atomic design systems and pattern libraries.\nExperience designing experiences for web, tablet and mobile devices.\nKnowledge of contemporary design and development methodologies is a plus.\nMust have excellent user experience and interaction design skills and be able to communicate clearly and concisely through visual specifications.\nKnowledge of digital accessibility and accessible design principles.\n\nPreferred\nAbility to extract complex concepts and quickly turn around rigorous flows, mockups and interactive prototypes reflecting a range of options.\nAbility to manage ambiguity, work autonomously and multi-task in an agile environment.\nDemonstrate visual design expertise through mockups and style guides.\nAdditional design skills in related fields, including motion design and prototyping.\nStrong understanding of typography, color and layout principles.\nMotion design and video editing.\nComplex prototyping, including animations and micro-interactions for digital products.\nConducting competitive analyses, research, and/or usability testing.\n\nPay Transparency\n\nThrivent’s long-term growth depends on attracting, rewarding, and retaining people who are committed to helping others thrive with purpose. The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $89,691.00 - $121,346.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions.
