At Tidewater Tech, we’rededicated to shaping the next generation of skilled professionals.\nLocation: 4535 E Princess Anne Rd, Norfolk, VA 23502\nCompensation: up to $30/hour\nSchedule:\nMonday - Thursday: 9:00 am to 6:00 pm or 10:00 am- 7:00pm\nFriday: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm \nRotating Saturdays: 9:00 am to 1:00 pm \nPosition Purpose \nThis Bursar position is essential for overseeing the management and allocation of federal funds, alternative funding options, and third-party billing and payments. The Financial Aid Specialist ensures the timely processing and return of Title IV refunds while verifying that all students meet their tuition obligations efficiently. \nKey Duties\nAdminister the disbursement of federal funds and alternative funding options, ensuring compliance with regulations and institutional policies.\nOversee third-party billing processes and payments, coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely financial transactions.\nManage the timely processing and return of Title IV refunds, while monitoring student accounts to confirm that tuition obligations are met promptly.\nThis position is responsible for aligning financial operations with organizational goals to ensure efficient billing and payment processes, thereby enhancing the institution's overall fiscal health and supporting its growth. \nJob Responsibilities \nPerform and track all third-party billing, including WIA, TA, and Vocational Rehabilitation, ensuring accurate and timely processing of student accounts.\nManage and document the closeout process for student accounts related to drops and graduates, preparing reports for accrediting agencies and ensuring compliance with US Department of Education regulations.\nRegularly review student accounts and ledgers to ensure sufficient funding for tuition and related charges, monitoring Title IV credit balances and identifying appropriate refund or repayment options.\nMeet with students to discuss payment schedules, establish arrangements, and track all cash payments to maintain accurate records.\nIn coordination with the Financial Aid Department, process and record student refunds within 30 days of the drop date, ensuring all exit paperwork is completed, including the Bursar Exit Letter and Refund Exit Form.\nDocument all relevant transactions and communications in Anthology, including ESI notes, alternative loan applications, and TA forms, to maintain comprehensive student records.\nPrepare and submit weekly deposits and monthly submissions of authorized accounts payable to accounting for processing.\nReceive and upload signed Student Portal Agreements and maintain inventory supplies for the office as authorized by the Supervisor.\nAttend monthly Census Meetings and Bursar training sessions and engage in ongoing professional development through conferences and seminars.\nParticipate in the onboarding and mentoring of new employees, fostering a positive work culture that supports institutional goals and enhances student experiences.\nPerform other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor to support the overall function of the bursar’s office.\nRequired Qualifications \nHigh School Diploma or GED, or equitable on-the-job experience.\nMinimum two (2) years financial or accounting experience, preferably in an academic environment.\nStrong math and accounting skills.\nAbility to work in a fast-paced, performance-driven, compliance-oriented environment.\nDetail-oriented, analytical, highly organized, and have the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.\nDemonstrate a high level of integrity, discretion, strong work ethic, and professionalism\nPersuasive and effective verbal and written communication skills, with a strong focus on customer service.\nHighly motivated and goal-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills.\nMust be able to work independently and as collaborative team member and have exceptional interpersonal skills.\nExcellent computer skills are required with proficiency in MS Office applications including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.\nExhibitsa positive, team-oriented attitude by remainingflexible and available to work outside of scheduled hours when needed, as directed by the Supervisor.\nAbility and willingness to travel locally or overnight occasionally for business\nPreferred Qualifications \nBachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, or relevant field\nAnthology experience \nWhat We Offer\nThe compensation for this position ranges up to $30 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
