The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge in Linux operating systems. The candidate must also have outstanding customer service skills, and the ability to translate technical issues into common language. The Linux Engineer reports to the Manager OS Managed Services.\nResponsibilities\nProvides quality internal and external customer service surrounding the Company values.\nManage the flow of incoming customer requests to maintain Customer Request Fulfillment process expectations\nCommunicate expectations, assignments and responsibilities clearly and professionally.\nParticipate in an on-call escalation support rotation to ensure 24x7x365 coverage for critical infrastructure and customer systems.\nPlan, install, and provide daily operational support for managed customer Linux environments\nEnsure timely resolution of high severity incidents, including communications, reporting, and tracking of follow-ups. \nFollows technical documentation for customer environments, processes, standards, and support procedures.\nCollaborate closely with other operations teams and architecture to efficiently resolve service incidents; ensuring service availability levels are met. \nDesire to improve upon existing systems and automate processes, including writing and maintaining documentation\nOther duties as assigned.\nQualifications\nTechnical training in Information technology, engineering, computer science or equivalent experience.\nExcellent customer facing communication skills (both written and verbal)\n1 year of experience of managing enterprise Linux environments\nAbility to trouble shoot and resolve basic issues associated with the operating systems\nExperience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8 or higher\nExperience with Ubuntu 20.04LTS or higher\nExperience using yum and Linux OS patching\nExperience working with VMware technologies\nProficient in one or more Linux / UNIX specific scripting languages\nExposure to cloud providers like Azure and AWS\nBasic understanding of OS side networking and networking concepts in general\nAdequate professional experience and knowledge to perform Job Responsibilities\nExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills\nAbility to communicate in non-technical terms to non-technical people\nAbility to prioritize and organize effectively \nAbility to work on multiple projects simultaneously\nAbility to work both independently and with others \nAbility to operate in a fast moving, team-oriented, collaborative environment with tight deadlines\nProficiency in using MS Office Suite and Windows-based computer applications\nPreferred Experience\nPrevious managed service provider experience\nExperience in complex multi data center environments with 24x7, mission critical operations \nWorking Conditions\nWFH and/or hybridenvironment\nPay Transparency TierPoint is committed to practices that promote pay equity and transparency.
