While deep database expertise is at the core of this role, you'll work across our entire technology stack - from PostgreSQL/TimescaleDB to Kubernetes, AWS/Azure cloud infrastructure, and more.\nThis isn’t just a database job. You’ll work at the intersection of databases, cloud infrastructure, and modern platform engineering. Every day brings different challenges - from optimising complex analytical queries to troubleshooting cloud, Kubernetes, and features built on top of the database that run through separate services. From network issues to using browser DevTools to trace API failures, you’ll help customers across the stack.\nYou’ll build expertise across our entire platform while deepening your database knowledge. This is a full-time position with priority towards the APAC time zones.\nThis is a permanent weekday role with 5-day, 5AM - 2pm IST, Monday - Friday.\nWhile this is a standard weekday role, there may be occasional on-call coverage required.\nWhat You'll Do Customer Success\nProvide technical support to customers experiencing database and platform issues\n\nTranslate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance\n\nCollaborate with customers to understand their use cases and optimise their implementations\n\nDeeply understand customer pain points and challenges to deliver solutions that truly address their needs\n\nBe a trusted advisor to customers and help them succeed\n\nManage customer cases from beginning to end.\n\nDatabase Excellence\nTroubleshoot and optimise PostgreSQL and TimescaleDB performance issues\n\nHelp implement database solutions, including Timescaledb features like hypertables, compression strategies, and continuous aggregates\n\nAnalyse complex query execution plans and resolve performance bottlenecks, including best practices, backup/restore, migrations, etc\n\nPL/pgSQL procedures for data operations\n\nTest new database features related to TimescaleDB or Agentic PostgreSQL to stay ahead of customers and proactively help them leverage new capabilities\n\nPlatform & Infrastructure\nInvestigate issues across the full stack - from application layer to database internals\n\nIntegrate and troubleshoot platform features\n\nInternal Collaboration\nSupport internal teams, including Solutions and Customer Delivery, with your extensive debugging knowledge across all product features\n\nPartner with Engineering teams to get to the bottom of complex issues and identify root causes\n\nEnable faster resolution of customer issues through cross-team knowledge sharing\n\nInnovation & Growth\nUse AI to accelerate your work\n\nContribute to platform improvements based on real-world customer needs\n\nStay current with PostgreSQL, TimescaleDB, and cloud technology advancements\n\nDocument to support team knowledge sharing\n\nWhat Success Looks Like\nCustomers trust your technical guidance and expertise\n\nYou help solve complex issues that span multiple parts of the stack\n\nYou contribute to making our platform more reliable and performant\n\nYour team relies on your versatility and problem-solving abilities\n\nYou're continuously learning and sharing knowledge with the team\n\nWhat We're Looking For\nMust-Have Skills\nStrong PostgreSQL knowledge - You understand query optimisation, indexing strategies, execution plans, and database internals\n\nProficiency in CLI - Comfortable in command-line\n\nSQL expertise - Complex queries, window functions, CTEs, and PL/pgSQL don't intimidate you\n\nPerformance analysis - Reading logs, metrics, and identifying bottlenecks\n\nExperience with TimescaleDB, other relational databases\n\nBackground in customer-facing technical roles\n\nCuriosity or experience with AI in databases\n\nAbility to learn quickly across diverse technical domains\n\nStrong communication skills - you can explain technical concepts clearly\n\nNice to Have Skills\nCloud platforms - Experience with AWS/Azure services and cloud architecture\n\nKubernetes - Understanding of container orchestration, pods, services, and resource management\n\nBrowser DevTools debugging - Using browser console, Network tab, and developer tools to diagnose frontend and API issues\n\nAbout Tiger Data\nTiger Data, formerly Timescale, sets the standard as the fastest PostgreSQL platform for modern workloads.
