Senior Full Stack Engineer

They are looking for a Senior Full-stack Software Engineer who writes high-quality code, knows when to leverage AI and when to question its output, and genuinely cares about shipping products that perform reliably at scale, including environments with 10,000+ concurrent users.

Responsibilities:

• Own features end-to-end: Take ownership from initial design through production reliability. Write the code, manage deployments, and take responsibility for the systems you build. This includes React frontends, Java backends, and the cloud infrastructure connecting them.
• Build for scale and real-time: Design and implement systems capable of handling thousands of concurrent users during large-scale events, with low-latency WebSocket connections, efficient pub/sub patterns, and resilient backend services.
• Deliver high-quality frontend experiences: Build highly interactive React applications involving video, live streaming, and real-time engagement, with a strong focus on performance, bundle efficiency, and responsiveness.
• Work AI-assisted, not AI-dependent: Use modern AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Copilot to accelerate development. Apply strong engineering judgement to review and validate AI-generated code, identifying issues such as fragmented logic, stale closures, incorrect concurrency patterns, and edge cases that automated tools may overlook.
• Shape architecture: Author technical documentation and architecture decisions that influence how features are built across the team. Maintain structural integrity and consistency across the codebase, including code developed with AI assistance.
• Follow engineering best practices: Write clean, maintainable, and appropriately tested code. Contribute to meaningful code reviews, unit testing, documentation, and engineering processes that support long-term product quality.
• Collaborate closely: Work directly with designers and product managers to iterate quickly. Bring a strong product mindset and proactively challenge requirements or specifications when they do not make sense for the customer.

Requirements:

• 4-6 years of industry experience as a full-stack or specialised software engineer, with exposure to multiple layers of the technology stack.
• Strong expertise in at least one of React or Java (Spring Boot), along with solid working knowledge of the other. You are a well-rounded full-stack engineer who can work effectively across both the frontend and backend.
• Strong frontend fundamentals: Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with a solid understanding of browser fundamentals and how web applications work beyond the React framework.
• Strong system design skills: Experience with both high-level concepts such as distributed systems, partition tolerance, and pub/sub architectures and low-level concepts such as database indexing, memory management, and concurrency. You understand the trade-offs behind architectural decisions rather than relying solely on buzzwords.
• Relational database proficiency: Comfortable working with Postgres or MySQL, including query design, indexing strategies, and understanding when an ORM may be masking expensive or inefficient database operations.
• Hands-on AI tooling experience: Regularly use AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Copilot. More importantly, you understand their limitations and failure modes and can critically evaluate the code they generate.
• Modern technology stack familiarity: Experience with technologies such as React, Redux, Java 11 Postgres, and Redis, along with familiarity with cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.
