The super-magical Wi-Fi landline for kids. No screens, no texting, no strangers — just real conversation with Grandma, besties, and contacts you approve. Plug in, twirl that cord, and time-travel to pure voice fun.

About Tin Can

Tin Can is building a safer, simpler way for kids to connect - without smartphones. We're creating screen-free, delightful devices and services that let families call the people who matter most, free from the noise of today's digital world.

We're building a bold, authentic, nostalgic, and kinda quirky brand that resonates with folks who want something simpler & better for their kids than the tech-infused lives we're currently living (and who have a sense of humor about it). As we gear up to scale to thousands of families, we're ready to bring on a PR Coordinator to help make it happen.

The Role

We're looking for a PR Coordinator who loves crafting a fun pitch just as much as the thrill of landing the story. You'll work closely with Tin Can’s Director of Communications and have real ownership over the day-to-day work that turns Tin Can into a name media (and parents) know and love.

This isn't a role for someone who wants to sit back and wait for the angle or story to come to them. We want someone scrappy, curious, and a little obsessed with the news cycle - someone who reads consistently and can't help but think "that's a Tin Can story" when they see one. You'll be the engine behind Tin Can's earned media presence and product placement, building relationships with the reporters who cover parenting, consumer, tech and everything in between, keeping tabs on what's happening in our world, and making sure Tin Can shows up in it.

You're detail-oriented, but aren’t afraid to move quickly and jump on an opportunity. Building a robust media list delights you as much as connecting with a reporter. If you keep a running list of editors you'd love to work with, get a genuine kick out of a "yes, send me more" reply, and take real pride in building a brand’s media presence from the ground up - let's get on the phone.

What You'll Do

  • Media outreach & pitching. Draft and send sharp, tailored pitches to top-tier consumer and parenting/lifestyle press. Turn Tin Can news, moments, and stories into coverage across the outlets that matter most to our audience.

  • Media list building. Build and maintain up-to-date, well-organized media lists across our key beats - parenting, tech, business, consumer/lifestyle, and beyond - so we're always pitching the right person, at the right outlet, at the right time.

  • Monitoring. Keep a constant pulse on the news cycle, and the broader conversation around kids and tech. Flag timely opportunities for Tin Can to join the conversation, and keep the team in the loop on anything relevant.

  • Press materials. Help draft and edit press releases, media alerts, briefing documents, fact sheets, and other written materials that sound unmistakably like Tin Can.

  • Product pitching. Get product into the hands of the right press and understand what it takes to convert to coverage - coordinating reviews, gifting, and hands-on placements that show off what makes Tin Can different.

  • Editorial calendar support. Help manage our editorial calendar, tracking key dates, launches, and moments so our outreach is always timely and never scrambling.

  • Reporting & tracking. Track press coverage, monitor results, and help pull together recaps that show what's working (and what we should try differently next time). Experience with Muckrack is a plus!

  • Team support. Prep briefing docs, conduct research, help coordinate logistics, and pitch in wherever the team needs an extra pair of hands - because that's how the best PR teams work.

What We're Looking For

  • 1-3 years of PR or communications experience, ideally with some exposure to consumer, lifestyle, parenting, or tech accounts (Internships count! Agency experience is a strong plus).

  • Strong writing skills. You can shift tone between a punchy pitch, a formal press release, and a friendly follow-up email without breaking a sweat.

  • A genuine interest in media and the news cycle. You know how to find a story, and you're not shy about chasing it down.

  • Sharp organizational instincts. You can juggle a media list, a monitoring report, and three pitches in flight without dropping a single one.

  • Comfort with ambiguity and a bias toward action.

  • A collaborative, low-ego approach.

  • Bonus points if you already have opinions about which reporters would love a screen-free landline for kids.

Why Join Tin Can

  • We're building tech that enriches childhood: We're on a quest to give kids a more analog childhood - one with real conversations, real connection, and way less screen time. No doomscrolling, data mining, or dopamine traps - just a simpler, better way for kids to stay in touch. This is a rare opportunity to build something that truly matters.

  • You'll own a country, then the map: You'll take over our first markets while the launch is still warm, and every country after that is yours to open - in whatever order you can make the case for.

  • Small, high-trust team: Every company says "team," but at Tin Can it means something different. We're a small, mission-driven group that genuinely has each other's backs - professionally and personally. You'll be joining a tight-knit crew where your ideas and instincts matter from day one.

  • Room to explore, not just execute: You'll have the space to explore new ideas, challenge assumptions, and shape a business that reflects our values of trust, simplicity, and care.
