This position will report to the Quality Manager and will be responsible for testing cement and raw materials to meet ASTM standards (American Standards for Testing Materials).\nResponsibilities\nMaintain a safe workplace in accordance with company policies, site-specific procedures, and MSHA requirements.\nPerform chemical and physical testing in accordance with applicable ASTM standards.\nAssist Process Control Technicians with daily assignments.\nTest water samples as required by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality permit.\nCollect material samples required for quality control testing.\nAnalyze chemical and physical test data and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports.\nTest specialty masonry products during production to verify color consistency.\nInspect laboratory equipment regularly, troubleshoot issues, perform routine maintenance, and recommend improvements.\nSpecial Projects:\nHelp develop and refine statistical process control (SPC) capabilities using the new LDMS.\nAssist with developing maintenance logs in the new LDMS.\nConduct a raw mill belt-cut study to evaluate variation in standard deviations between raw mills.\nOrganize the laboratory by updating manuals and safety data sheets (SDS) and inventorying spare parts.\nLearn TOC/DSC analysis and develop TOC programs for kiln feed, raw mix, and raw materials.\nDevelop XRD analysis standards for limestone additions in cement.\nQualifications\nCurrent student or recent graduate pursuing or holding a degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills and professional demeanor.\nStrong attention to detail, analytical ability, and sound judgment to anticipate issues and recommend solutions.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.\nStrong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments and projects.\nResults-oriented attitude and commitment to achieving goals.\nFamiliarity with automated laboratory equipment is preferred.\nAbility to work independently and identify opportunities for improvement.\nWillingness to accept responsibility and adapt to
