This position will focus on administering, securing, and optimizing enterprise data platforms across on-premises and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with SQL Server administration, Azure data services, and Microsoft Fabric, along with strong troubleshooting and automation skills.\nSenior Data Platform Engineer Responsibilities\nAdminister, maintain, patch, upgrade, and troubleshoot Microsoft SQL Server environments across Development, UAT, Production, and Disaster Recovery.\n\nManage SQL Server components, including Database Engine, SQL Server Agent, SSIS/SSISDB, SSRS, linked servers, and supporting services.\n\nDesign and maintain high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions, including Availability Groups, backup and restore strategies, failover testing, and recovery procedures.\n\nMonitor and optimize database performance, including queries, indexing, statistics, blocking, deadlocks, CPU, memory, storage, and TempDB.\n\nMaintain database operations, including integrity checks, backups, SQL Server Agent jobs, alerts, scheduled tasks, and automated maintenance.\n\nSupport database migrations, environment refreshes, server consolidation, version upgrades, and modernization initiatives.\n\nImplement and support data movement technologies, including Change Data Capture (CDC), Change Tracking, and replication.\n\nTroubleshoot complex database issues involving connectivity, performance, failed jobs, storage, corruption, availability, and recovery.\n\nEvaluate opportunities to modernize SQL Server workloads using Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL Database, Microsoft Fabric, and other cloud platforms.\n\nAdminister SQL Server authentication, logins, users, roles, permissions, and access controls.\n\nImplement security best practices, including least-privilege access, privileged access reviews, database auditing, encryption, and secure connectivity.\n\nPartner with Cybersecurity and Infrastructure teams to address vulnerabilities, patching requirements, audit findings, and remediation activities.\n\nAdminister and optimize Azure and Microsoft Fabric services, including Fabric Warehouse, Lakehouse, OneLake, capacities, workspaces, gateways, and connections.\n\nSupport data integration and movement using Azure Data Factory, Fabric Data Factory, pipelines, notebooks, Mirroring, Copy Jobs, and other integration technologies.\n\nMonitor Fabric capacity, resource utilization, workload performance, and On-premises Data Gateway availability and connectivity.\n\nDevelop monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and automation for platform administration, maintenance, deployments, access reviews, and environment configuration.\n\nUse PowerShell, T-SQL, Python, Azure CLI, and REST APIs to automate routine platform tasks.\n\nParticipate in production incident response, root-cause analysis, capacity planning, and preventative maintenance.\n\nImplement source control and CI/CD practices using Azure DevOps, Git, database projects, DACPACs, and deployment pipelines.\n\nEstablish controlled deployment processes across Development, UAT, and Production, including rollback planning and post-deployment validation.\n\nCollaborate with Data Engineering and Architecture teams to establish standards for security, performance, monitoring, backups, availability, and disaster recovery.\n\nMaintain architecture diagrams, configuration documentation, operational procedures, recovery plans, and technical standards.\n\nSenior Data Platform Engineer Qualifications\nBachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.\n\nMinimum of 5 years of experience in database administration, data platform engineering, cloud engineering, or a related technical role.\n\nStrong hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise production environments, including on-premises and cloud platforms.\n\nStrong understanding of SQL Server architecture, configuration, security, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.\n\nExperience with SQL Server Availability Groups and high-availability and disaster-recovery technologies.\n\nExperience administering SQL Server Agent jobs and database maintenance processes.\n\nExperience with Microsoft Fabric administration and architecture, including Warehouse, Lakehouse, OneLake, Fabric Capacity, and On-premises Data Gateway.\n\nExperience with data integration technologies such as SSIS, Azure Data Factory, or Fabric Data Factory.\n\nProficiency in scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, T-SQL, or similar technologies.\n\nUnderstanding of enterprise networking, Active Directory/Microsoft Entra ID, service accounts, managed identities, firewalls, private endpoints, and secure connectivity.\n\nExperience supporting business-critical production systems and troubleshooting complex technical issues.\n\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.\n\nKnowledge of enterprise security, governance, access control, reliability, and operational risk management principles.\n\nAbility to manage competing priorities, respond effectively to production issues, and maintain secure, reliable, and highly available data
