We're hiring an experienced software engineer who writes clear specifications, directs AI agents to build against them, and is accountable for whether the result is correct, secure, and maintainable.\nAI changes where your time goes, not what you're responsible for. You'll spend more time on requirements, decomposition, review, and validation, and less on writing code by hand. You'll still need the engineering depth to read, debug, and fix code you didn't write.\nYou'll work alongside TRG's AI engineering team and business stakeholders, and you'll be expected to own delivery from day one.\nWhat This Role Is, and Is Not\nThis role is:\nA hands-on software engineering role with real production accountability.\nBuilt around spec-driven development: you define what \"done\" means, then drive AI agents to get there.\nResponsible for correctness, security, performance, and maintainability, regardless of who or what wrote the code.\nThis role is not:\nA prompt-only or non-technical position.\nA research, data science, or model-training role.\nAn entry-level or training position.\nWhat You'll Do\nSpecify and decompose\nTurn business requests into structured specs: scope, out-of-scope, acceptance criteria, and validation rules.\nBreak complex work into tasks agents can execute reliably, with traceability back to the requirement.\nOrchestrate agents\nDirect AI agents to build, configure, integrate, test, and troubleshoot software systems.\nGive agents the documentation, system context, tools, permissions, and constraints they need, and no more access than required.\nCoordinate work across agents, manage dependencies, and resolve conflicting or incomplete results.\nRun multiple agent workstreams in parallel on isolated branches and integrate their results safely.\nRecognize when an agent is stuck, making unsupported assumptions, or solving the wrong problem, and redirect it.\nReview and validate\nReview AI-generated and human-written code for architecture, security, performance, and maintainability.\nCatch hallucinations, logic gaps, and unsafe patterns before they reach production.\nBuild agents and automated harnesses that test, verify, and iterate on their own code: writing and running tests, reading failures, and fixing issues before work reaches human review.\nEnsure unit, integration, and regression test coverage, using AI to accelerate test generation while verifying the tests themselves.\nValidate outcomes through testing, logs, automated checks, and comparison against business requirements.\nShip and operate\nShip every change through merge requests with CI gates.\nDeploy through CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code, following established security, approval, and rollback procedures.\nInvestigate production issues and determine whether the cause is instructions, data, tooling, or the underlying system.\nMonitor post-deployment behavior and close the loop on defects.\nMake it repeatable\nBuild and maintain reusable specs, prompts, guardrails, and review checklists so successful workflows produce consistent results across the team.\nContribute to TRG's standards for AI-assisted development.\nRequired Qualifications\n3+ years of professional software engineering experience building and owning production systems (backend services, APIs, integrations, or applications), including releases and incident support.\nDaily, hands-on use of agentic development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Codex on real work. Be prepared to walk us through a specific example.\nDemonstrated ability to read, reason about, and debug code you didn't write.\nExperience directing AI agents to write and run tests against acceptance criteria, read failures, and iterate before work reaches human review.\nWorking knowledge of Git, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.\nHands-on experience writing and maintaining YAML for CI/CD pipelines and deployment configuration (GitLab CI or similar), along with infrastructure as code (Bicep or Terraform).\nExperience building and deploying on a major cloud platform.\nProfessional proficiency in at least one of C#, TypeScript, or Python.\nUnderstanding of secure coding practices and handling sensitive data, including risks specific to AI agents such as prompt injection, secret leakage, and over-broad permissions.\nClear written communication: specs and documentation that people and agents can act on.\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Microsoft Azure.\nWorking knowledge of C#/.NET, TypeScript (Node, React or Angular), Python, and SQL (SQL Server preferred).\nExperience building agent harnesses, self-verification loops, or evaluations that check agent output against defined acceptance criteria.\nSpec-driven development experience (e.g., Kiro spec workflows, GitHub Spec Kit, or similar).\nMulti-agent orchestration, MCP servers, or building AI-integrated workflows.\nExperience in a regulated industry: title, mortgage, insurance, or financial services.\nExperience working in Agile teams.\nWhat Success Looks Like\nYou deliver working outcomes with evidence that they meet the requirements. For any piece of work, you can explain what was requested, how you directed the agents, how you verified the result, and what risk remains. You verify results rather than accept a confident answer, and you know when to proceed, ask, or stop. You independently own projects end to end and escalate only the decisions that need additional business or architectural judgment.\nAbout TRG\nTRG is one of the nation’s largest and fastest-growing title insurance underwriters, delivering trusted solutions to a broad range of customers and protecting property ownership rights across America.
