Our automation ecosystem supports more than 70,000 network devices. This role combines deep technical ownership with leadership across platform reliability, cloud architecture, DevSecOps, release management, and operational excellence. You will partner with Automation Developers, Network Engineers, Security, Global Systems, cloud teams, and business stakeholders to build a scalable, secure, resilient, and maintainable automation ecosystem.Responsibilities\nWhat You Will Own\nPlatform Engineering & Operations\nOwn the architecture, deployment, operation, and lifecycle of network automation applications and supporting services.\nDesign and operate containerized applications on Kubernetes using Helm, Argo, and Terraform.\nOwn the Nautobot platform stack, including Python/Django, Celery, uWSGI/NGINX, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kubernetes, AWS, and GitLab CI/CD.\nLead platform upgrades, plugin lifecycle management, performance tuning, capacity planning, resiliency, and observability improvements.\nDevOps & Software Delivery\nBuild and manage application images, containers, and deployment workflows.\nOwn GitLab standards, branching strategy, runners, CI/CD pipelines, release promotion, and software delivery practices.\nEstablish reliable release processes across development, test, and production environments.\nCloud, Security & Risk\nPartner with Global Systems and cloud teams to evolve AWS infrastructure, hosting models, scalability, disaster recovery, and operational support.\nOwn and manage AWS infrastructure supporting network automation platforms, including IAM roles and policies, EKS, EC2, VPC networking, security groups, S3, load balancing, and platform monitoring.\nEmbed DevSecOps practices, including SAST, dependency scanning, container scanning, and infrastructure security validation.\nEnsure platform and deployment practices align with corporate security policies and audit requirements.\nTechnical Leadership\nServe as the senior technical authority for platform engineering and DevOps within the Automation team.\nSet engineering standards and guardrails, mentor developers, and influence the future of network automation at TNS.\nQualifications\nRequired Experience\n10+ years of progressive IT engineering experience, including 5+ years of hands-on DevOps or platform engineering.\nProven experience deploying and operating production applications on Kubernetes.\nStrong hands-on experience with AWS, Terraform, Helm, Docker, Git, GitLab administration, runners, and CI/CD pipeline design.\nStrong hands-on AWS experience including IAM, EKS, EC2, VPCs, S3, security controls, monitoring, and cloud networking.\nHands-on Experience operating distributed application platforms using Kubernetes, Celery, Redis, and containers.\nExperience implementing DevSecOps practices and security scanning across the software lifecycle.\nExperience supporting highly available production applications with demanding operational requirements.\nAbility to lead architecture decisions, solve complex platform problems, and guide engineers through implementation.\nPreferred Experience\nNautobot, NetBox, or comparable network source-of-truth platforms.\nNetwork automation and orchestration, including Ansible.\nPython and Django applications; PostgreSQL or MongoDB.\nGitLab Runner architecture and management; Argo-based deployment workflows.\nEnterprise platforms operating in regulated environments.\nWhat Success Looks Like\nWithin the first 12 months, you will:\nLead the transition of the Nautobot AWS/Kubernetes platform from vendor-managed operations to a TNS-owned and operated service, including architecture, deployment, upgrades, security, monitoring, and lifecycle management.\nStandardize GitLab workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and release management.\nProvide clear technical leadership for platform engineering and automation infrastructure.\nLead the AWS architecture and migration approach for applications, services, and infrastructure moving from on-premises and legacy environments.\nFor this role in the United States, we anticipate paying $125,000k - $155,000K. The actual amount may be higher or lower than the range provided considering each candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location.
