This includes overseeing the implementation and maintenance of the company’s HACCP Plan, BRCGS compliance, FDA compliance, and Good Manufacturing Processes. The QA Supervisor performs inspections and internal audits with a focus on compliance, and they work cross-functionally with all departments to resolve findings, promote food safety, and educate staff on food safety programs and fundamentals. This is a hands-on job which requires tenacity, strong understanding of QA practices, food safety fundamentals, system management, as well as good people skills.\nEssential Functions\nDevelop and maintain Tofurky’s food safety and quality standards\nLead, design, and maintain the food safety processes for regulatory, customer, and 3rd party requirements (FDA, Oregon Department of Agriculture, HACCP, FSMA, BRCGS, etc.)\nLead maintenance and improvement of compliance programs including BRCGS Global Standard for Food Safety, Non-GMO Project Verified, and Certified Plant-Based Foods\nTraining and enforcement of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s) and other company policies\nConduct and coordinate teams in regular facility inspections and internal audits\nCommunicate non-conformances to appropriate departments and provide guidance and assistance in the resolution of these items\nConduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for non-conforming product, audit non-conformances, and process failures and implement Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) based on findings \nWrite and maintain Food Safety Plans as a member of the HACCP Team and assist with validation of Preventive Controls\nConduct risk assessments on raw materials related to food safety, compliance, and food fraud\nComplete compliance paperwork, actions related to regulatory or customer compliance issues, and corrective actions as requested\nAssist with and conduct cross-functional meetings\nConduct classroom and on-the-floor training with staff within the QA department and cross-functionally\nConduct in-house testing as needed (microbiological, texture, chemical, organoleptic) and coordinate samples for third-party testing\nQualifications\nCompetencies\nUnderstanding of HACCP, GMPs and BRCGS requirements\nPerformance management and leadership\nProblem solving and root cause analysis skills\nAbility to work independently and manage multiple short-term and on-going projects\nProject management skills are a plus\nStrong skills related to working cohesively with a team and emotional intelligence\nAbility to conduct meetings, write and follow agendas, take and report minutes\nSelf-motivated and detail oriented\nStrong computer and Excel skills\nBilingual Spanish/English is a plus\nTechnical writing skills\nStrong email and verbal communication skills\nRequired Education and Experience\nBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and training\nExperience working with food safety\nHACCP or Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) certification (if do not possess, must be able to obtain on the job within 3 months)\nPreferred Education and Experience\n2+ years of quality assurance experience in a food manufacturing or consumer packaged goods environment\nFood Defense Qualified Individual (FDQI) certification\nBachelor’s degree in scientific field such as food science, microbiology, or chemistry \nExperience in working in a lab environment, microbiology, and chemistry\nFamiliarity with BRCGS Global Standard for Food Safety or other GFSI schemes\nAdditional Qualifications\nHACCP or Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) certification can be attained post-employment and will be required withing 3 months to maintain position\nSupervisory Responsibility\nThis position is responsible for the direct supervision of QA Technician employees.\nWork Environment and Physical Demands\nThis job operates in an office and manufacturing setting with frequent exposure to lab and production areas. The employee is regularly required to sit and perform duties in an office setting and also frequently required to enter production and warehousing areas. While performing some of the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, use stairs, reach, stoop, kneel or crouch. The ability to occasionally and safely lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. is required.\nPosition Type and Expected Hours of Work\nThis is a full-time salaried, exempt position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday 11:00 am to 9:30pm. Flexibility in work schedule is required to accommodate business needs. Occasionally required to work longer shifts, off-hours, and weekend work based on needs of the business.
