Always Advancing, we embrace an entrepreneurial spirit; as Experts in Tomorrow, we anticipate what’s next; and by Reaching Out, we build genuine connections that enable our people and our business to thrive.\nRole Overview\nResponsible for the accounting and reporting of the Company’s invested assets for a specialty insurance organization under US GAAP, Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). This role supports the month-end close process, regulatory reporting, and preparation of financial statements and disclosures while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.\nKey Responsibilities\nPrepare and review a variety of investment-related journal entries, ensuring appropriate supporting documentation.\nPrepare and review reconciliations of investment accounts from the general ledger to reports from outside vendors.\nProactively detect, research, and resolve reconciling items.\nCoordinate with outside vendors to correct issues and problems that arise during the monthly close process.\nPrepare investment schedules for quarterly and annual statutory and IFRS financial statements.\nPrepare various other reports and schedules for internal reporting, credit rating surveys, tax, and other purposes, ensuring appropriate supporting documentation.\nAssist in answering questions from and providing data requested by internal and external auditors.\nActive participation in interpreting and implementation of new accounting standards across SAP, GAAP, and IFRS.\nPerform special projects as requested by the senior manager and the VP, Corporate Controller.\nFollow work plans, established timelines, and predefined goals for assigned work.\nMeet commitments on deadlines.\nCommunicate activities, results, and observations with employees and management as appropriate.\nIdentify areas for improvement in existing business practices.\nPerform work thoroughly in a cost-efficient manner and at a high productivity level.\nComply with all corporate policies and procedures.\nReport any breakdowns in controls to management.\nConduct all activities in a safe manner.\nWhat You Bring\nEducation & Certifications\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or the equivalent education and/or experience.\nCertified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.\nExperience & Qualifications\n5 years of relevant and progressive professional experience in accounting and/or finance.\nInsurance company experience is a plus.\nSolid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).\nAbility to apply broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures.\nAbility to quickly learn and understand processes, their purpose, and their impact on financial statements and reports.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.\nExceptional organizational and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.\nKnowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates, and technical developments related to the applicable area of the Company’s business to proactively respond to the changing business environment.\nExperience in public accounting, investment accounting in the insurance industry, IFRS, and/or statutory accounting principles is a plus.\nNo people management responsibility.\nTechnical Skills\nIntermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.\nTravel\nOccasional travel required, up to 10% of the time.\nWhat We Offer\nCompetitive salary and comprehensive medical, vision, and dental benefit package, with eligibility beginning on your date of hire.\nStrong learning culture with ongoing development opportunities.\nBasic life and disability insurance.\n401(k) plan with 6% company match.\n20 days of PTO, two floating holidays, approximately 11 paid holidays, and volunteer time off.\nPaid parental leave.\nAn opportunity to do meaningful work and love what you do.\nEqual Opportunity Employer\nTMHCC is an equal opportunity employer.
