The successful candidate will develop scalable and secure applications, support system modernization, collaborate with technical teams, and provide guidance to junior and mid-level developers.\nThe position requires working on-site in Woodlawn, MD, five days per week. The final interview will be conducted in person.\nResponsibilities\nDesign and develop enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, React, and Twelve-Factor App methodology.\nDevelop responsive user interfaces using AngularJS, ReactJS, Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES13+), JSP, HTML, CSS, XML, AJAX, and jQuery.\nDesign web components compliant with Section 508 accessibility standards.\nDesign and develop microservices and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot.\nDevelop and deploy cloud-native applications using AWS, Red Hat OpenShift, Docker, and related technologies.\nImplement DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, and related tools.\nDevelop enterprise Java batch applications using JSR 352 and Spring Batch, with job scheduling through Control-M.\nDesign and implement SOAP web services using JAX-WS, Apache Axis, and WSDL, including WS-Security, IBM DataPower, WS-I, MTOM, and SOAP with Attachments.\nDevelop data access layers integrating IBM DB2 and PostgreSQL across z/OS, Linux, and other platforms using JPA, Hibernate, and Spring Data.\nDesign scalable, high-throughput, low-latency applications and optimize performance, caching, asynchronous processing, and load balancing.\nDevelop automated unit and integration tests using JUnit, Mockito, PowerMock, Cucumber, Gherkin, and BDD/TDD practices.\nIdentify and resolve application security vulnerabilities, code quality issues, and technical debt.\nCreate proofs of concept, UML diagrams, solution architecture documents, and technical documentation using tools such as Visio and Confluence.\nCollaborate with business analysts, QA teams, project managers, and customers throughout Agile development.\nEvaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to architecture, development processes, and software delivery.\nServe as a hands-on Technical Lead, providing guidance and support to junior and mid-level developers.\nContribute to technical strategy, standards, and operational improvements.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nRequirements\nMinimum Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.\n10+ years of experience with Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and React.\nExtensive experience designing and developing applications using Java and JEE technologies.\n Hands-on experience serving as a Technical Lead.\nStrong experience with Angular, React, Express, or Node.js.\nExperience with Agile development methodologies and tools, including Agility.\nExperience designing microservices, RESTful APIs, and single-page applications.\nExperience developing responsive web applications and addressing cross-browser compatibility.\nExperience designing high-throughput, low-latency, scalable systems.\nExperience developing cloud-native applications using AWS and PostgreSQL.\nStrong knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift, Docker, and PaaS technologies.\nExperience with CI/CD tools, including Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, Jira, Nexus, Maven, SonarQube, Fortify, and UrbanCode Deploy.\nExperience with Java and JEE technologies, including Struts, Spring Framework (IoC, MVC, Transactions, Security, Batch), Spring JDBC, JPA, Hibernate, DB2, Tomcat, and WebSphere.\nExperience with web services and security technologies, including XML, JAXP, JAXB, JAX-WS, Axis, Jersey, JSON, CXF, REST, SOAP, LTPA, and OAuth2/JWT.\nExperience with automated unit testing, TDD, BDD, JUnit, mocking frameworks, and Cucumber.\nExperience using SonarQube to identify and remediate bugs, vulnerabilities, security hotspots, and technical debt.\nKnowledge of web application security vulnerabilities and remediation practices.\nExperience optimizing CPU, memory, response times, and application scalability in cloud environments.\nStrong communication, problem-solving, and technical leadership skills.\nMust be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.\nMust be willing to work on-site in Woodlawn, MD, five days per week.\nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster's or doctoral degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.\nExperience with Kafka-based event-driven architectures, including producers, consumers, topics, partitions, consumer groups, replication, retention, Kafka Connect, and Kafka Streams.\nKnowledge of artificial intelligence and its application to enterprise software architecture and modernization.\nExperience implementing Section 508 accessibility standards.\nExperience preparing technical white papers and system design documentation.\nPrior experience supporting federal or state government IT projects.\nExperience with low-code platforms such as ServiceNow, Pega, or Microsoft Power Platform.\nBenefits\nSalary: $110,000/yr.-$130,000/yr. based on experience.\nHealth insurance stipend.
