Visit us at packaging.toppan.com\nSummary Description:\nThe Area Controller is responsible for the financial oversight and accounting operations of the Alloyd group, consisting of eight manufacturing plants across four geographic locations. Based in either Charlotte, NC or the Chicago, IL area, this position serves as a key financial partner to plant and operational leadership, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective internal controls, and timely analysis of business performance.\nThe Area Controller will lead the budgeting, forecasting, financial close, cost accounting, and performance-reporting processes for the assigned operations. The position will also identify financial risks and opportunities, support operational decision-making, and drive improvements in financial processes and controls.\nWhat you’ll be doing:\nLead the accounting and financial reporting activities for eight manufacturing plants across four geographic locations.\nEnsure the timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.\nReview financial results, investigate significant variances, and communicate key business drivers, risks, and opportunities to operational and financial leadership.\nPlay a key finance leadership role in the upcoming ERP implementation, partnering with IT, operations, and other functional teams to define requirements, standardize processes, validate system design, and support a successful deployment across the Alloyd group.\nLead finance-related implementation activities, including data validation, system testing, internal control design, user acceptance testing, training, cutover preparation, and post-implementation stabilization.\nCoordinate the annual budgeting process and periodic financial forecasts for the assigned operations.\nPartner with plant leadership to develop financial plans, monitor performance, and support operational and strategic initiatives.\nOversee plant-level cost accounting, including inventory valuation, standard costs, manufacturing variances, labor and overhead analysis, and product profitability.\nMaintain effective internal controls and ensure compliance with company accounting policies, generally accepted accounting principles, and applicable regulatory requirements.\nReview balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, reserves, accruals, and other accounting records for accuracy and completeness.\nMonitor working capital performance, including inventory, receivables, payables, and capital spending.\nSupport capital investment decisions by evaluating proposed projects, validating financial assumptions, and monitoring results against approved business cases.\nCoordinate with internal and external auditors and ensure that audit requests and corrective actions are completed accurately and on time.\nLead, develop, and mentor accounting team members, establishing clear expectations and supporting professional growth.\nStandardize accounting practices and financial reporting across locations.\nIdentify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, strengthen controls, and improve the accuracy and usefulness of financial information.\nCollaborate with operations, supply chain, sales, human resources, information technology, and corporate finance teams.\nSupport special projects, integrations, system implementations, and other business initiatives as needed.\nPerform additional responsibilities as assigned.\nThis is a HYBRID position based out of either our DeKalb, IL Facility or Charlotte, NC (South End) Office\nWe’d love to hear from you if:\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.\nAt least five years of progressive accounting or financial management experience.\nExperience supporting manufacturing operations, including cost accounting, inventory accounting, and operational variance analysis.\nStrong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, and forecasting.\nDemonstrated ability to analyze financial and operational information and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations.\nAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with enterprise resource planning and financial reporting systems. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, OneStream, or IQMS/DELMIAWorks is preferred. Prior involvement in an ERP implementation, upgrade, or business-process transformation is a plus.\nStrong leadership skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships across multiple locations and functional areas.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate financial information to nonfinancial stakeholders.\nStrong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.\nA high level of accuracy, accountability, sound judgment, and professional integrity.\nExperience leading process-improvement or change-management initiatives.\nThe ability to travel periodically to supported plant locations.\n\nCPA or CMA certification.\nExperience in a multi-site manufacturing environment.\nExperience with financial system implementations, business integrations, or acquisition-related activities.\nFamiliarity with continuous-improvement methodologies and manufacturing performance metrics.\nAt TOPPAN Packaging Americas, We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package designed to support our employees’ overall wellbeing.
