After delivering our 20% market share goal of “one in five” in 2023, we have launched our new goal - Mission 365 - targeting £365 million of sales\nAbout the Role\nWe are looking for an experienced and driven Accounts Payable Manager to lead our Purchase Ledger function and ensure the accurate, timely and controlled processing of supplier transactions across the business.\nAs a key member of the Finance team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end accounts payable process, managing a high-performing team, maintaining strong financial controls and delivering an excellent service to internal stakeholders and suppliers.\nThis is an exciting opportunity to join a growing listed retail business and play a significant role in driving process improvements, enhancing controls and supporting wider finance transformation initiatives.\nKey Responsibilities:\nLeadership & Team Management\nLead, coach and develop the Accounts Payable team.\nSet clear objectives and performance standards.\nBuild a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and customer service.\nManage resource planning to ensure appropriate service levels are maintained.\nAccounts Payable Operations\nOversee the end-to-end supplier invoice process from receipt through to payment.\nEnsure accurate coding, approval, posting and matching of supplier invoices.\nManage supplier statement reconciliations and prompt resolution of queries.\nEnsure payment runs are prepared accurately and in accordance with delegated authorities.\nMonitor aged creditors and outstanding balances.\nFinancial Control & Governance\nEnsure compliance with internal controls, policies and procedures.\nMaintain strong segregation of duties across vendor setup, invoice processing and payments.\nReview and approve key transactions and exceptions.\nSupport internal and external audit requirements.\nEnsure compliance with VAT and accounting requirements relating to supplier transactions.\nProcess Improvement\nIdentify and implement opportunities to automate and streamline processes.\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives across Accounts Payable.\nUtilise ERP and workflow systems to improve efficiency and reporting.\nSupport finance transformation and system enhancement projects.\nStakeholder & Supplier Management\nBuild strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.\nAct as an escalation point for complex supplier issues.\nWork closely with Buying, Operations and Finance teams to improve ways of working.\nEnsure a professional and responsive service to the wider business.\nReporting & Month End\nEnsure timely completion of period-end activities.\nMaintain AP-related balance sheet reconciliations.\nProvide reporting and analysis on payment performance, creditor balances and team KPIs.\nSupport cash-flow forecasting and working capital management.\nWhat We're Looking For:\nEssential\nProven experience managing a Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable function.\nStrong understanding of financial controls and governance.\nExperience managing and developing teams.\nExcellent organisational and stakeholder management skills.\nExperience operating within a high-volume transactional environment.\nStrong ERP systems experience.\nAdvanced Excel and reporting skills.\nDesirable\nRetail, FMCG or multi-site business experience.\nExperience within a listed company or regulated environment.\nExperience of shared service operations.\nKnowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or similar ERP systems.\nAccounting qualification (AAT, part-qualified ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).\nPersonal Attributes\nWe are looking for someone who:\nLeads by example and enjoys developing people.\nHas a continuous improvement mindset.\nIs highly organised with excellent attention to detail.\nBuilds positive relationships at all levels.\nIs resilient and able to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.\nTakes ownership and delivers results.\nWhy Join Us?\nOpportunity to lead a critical finance function within a successful listed retailer.\nInfluence process, systems and service improvements.\nCareer development opportunities within a growing finance team.\nHybrid working and competitive benefits package.\nCollaborative, supportive and ambitious culture.\nWhat we’ll do for you\nIn a culture where hard work is recognised and great results are rewarded; you can look forward to a company bonus that will give you a share of our success (up to 20% of your base salary).
