This is an on-site role. You will own federal and state requirements, safety and compliance, people management, and fleet administration, reporting to the Director of Fleet Operations.\nYou will oversee the testing safety process, dispatch and recovery of test vehicles, and testing objectives, while ensuring regulatory compliance for a Class 8 test fleet and making sure all processes and policies are followed as directed. Responsibilities include business plans and deliverables, daily fleet operations, procurement and financials, safety, logistics, inventories, site onboarding, and vendor negotiations and administration. You will partner with Torc affiliates to ensure safe and continual operations.\nWhat You’ll Do:\nSupervise the Logistics Managers and provide leadership to their teams\nDevelop business plans, metrics, and key performance indicators that measure and deliver on goals, such as miles per day, safety and productivity measures, absences and turnover, fuel economy, and truck repair and maintenance costs\nRun day-to-day operations by building schedules, assigning and monitoring work, implementing productivity standards, resolving operational problems, and maintaining reference manuals and new procedures\nWork with logistics, fleet management, and on-road testing to keep testing safe and productive while reducing risk and liability exposure\nCollaborate with engineering to review and approve test plans, fulfill the established safety testing process, and give feedback to test engineering teams\nOwn transportation expenses, inventories, budgeting, and forecasting, including monitoring variances and driving corrective action\nSupport Torc’s safety program and coordinate with the Director of Operational Safety on improvements and site-specific needs\nEnsure regulatory and DOT compliance, including OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, EPA, local fire code, and industry and state requirements\nManage inventory, asset tracking, and chain of custody for equipment, tools, and materials, and ensure fleet tractors and trailers are properly licensed, labeled, maintained, and clean\nPartner with maintenance teams to understand base vehicle issues and reduce future downtime\nMonitor weather, road conditions, closures, and traffic, and make sure drivers and conductors have the information they need to avoid hazards\nAdminister accident and incident reporting, including coordination with first responders, law enforcement, insurance and recovery companies, and headquarters, and keep leadership informed accurately and on time\nBuild strong relationships with internal and external partners, including local police and transportation officials, to maintain Torc’s reputation in the community\nCollaborate with Safety, Finance, Talent Acquisition, People Operations, IT, and others to plan for site financial, staffing, and technology needs\nPartner with People Operations and Talent Acquisition on hiring, onboarding, goal setting, career development, performance management, and employee relations\nHelp create and maintain procedures that protect the confidentiality of company, site, and program materials\nWhat You’ll Need to Succeed:\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field preferred\n6 years of progressive experience in operations and management of a transportation or trucking center and fleet\nKnowledge of autonomous vehicles and the opportunities and challenges of a fast-moving environment\nWorking knowledge of the industry’s legal obligations, regulations, and guidelines\nExperience with budgeting, procurement and financial operations, supervision and training, facilities and asset management, and crisis management\nExcellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to build trust and communicate with a diverse workforce\nSolid technical knowledge and the ability to understand technical designs, challenges, and risks to optimize autonomous vehicle operations\nStrong facilitation and presentation skills for small and large groups\nProficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and audio/visual equipment\nStrong business judgment, a collaborative style, and strong organizational skills to manage multiple programs at once\nAbility to thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing business needs\nA passion for developing and growing colleagues to their highest potential\nAbility to maintain sensitive and confidential information\nTravel, Training and Safety Requirements:\nWork on-site at our Fort Worth facility\nValid US driver’s license with a safe driving record required\nOccasional travel to other site locations and other states\nAbility to work and collaborate across locations and time zones\nFlexibility to work overtime when project demands\nWear appropriate personal protective equipment in areas identified through hazard assessment\nOccasional exposure to outdoor weather, including inclement weather and temperature extremes\nAbility to occasionally lift and carry up to 40 pounds\nBonus Points:\nOSHA 30-Hour certificate preferred\nAI Fluency\nPerks of Being a Full-time Torc’r\nTorc cares about our team members and we strive to provide benefits and resources to support their health, work/life balance, and future.
