Oversees personnel, staffing, scheduling, safety compliance, and operational coordination to ensure testing activities are executed safely and efficiently. Provides frontline leadership through employee development, performance management, and accountability while fostering a team environment aligned with Torc’s core values.\nWhat You’ll Do \n1. Daily Operations & Logistics\nSupervise daily autonomous vehicle testing operations and personnel assignments.\nCoordinate staffing, equipment, and resources to support scheduled testing activities.\nEnsure effective shift transitions, operational handoffs, and communication between crews.\nMonitor daily execution, resolve routine operational issues, and escalate barriers when necessary.\nEnsure adherence to established operational procedures and testing requirements.\n2. Personnel Leadership & Development\nProvide direct supervision to In-Vehicle Fallback Test Drivers (IFTDs) and Fleet Operations Specialists (FOSs).\nConduct employee performance evaluations, provide coaching, and support professional development.\nEstablish clear expectations and hold team members accountable for performance, safety, and procedural compliance.\nAddress employee concerns, recognize strong performance, and administer corrective action when appropriate.\nSupport recruitment, interviews, onboarding, training, and employee qualification requirements.\nFoster a positive team culture that reflects Torc’s core values, promotes trust, and encourages teamwork and accountability.\n3. Staffing & Scheduling\nMaintain daily and weekly staffing schedules aligned with operational requirements.\nAssign personnel based on qualifications, availability, and testing needs.\nManage employee attendance, timekeeping, and scheduling adjustments.\nCoordinate staffing and travel requirements for remote testing assignments.\nIdentify and communicate personnel shortages and coverage limitations.\n4. Fleet & Testing Support\nCoordinate personnel and logistical support for assigned testing activities.\nVerify operational readiness of personnel, equipment, and supporting resources.\nCollaborate with Fleet Management and Maintenance regarding vehicle availability and readiness.\nEnsure completion of required vehicle inspections, fueling, and operational documentation.\nCommunicate equipment issues and operational constraints affecting testing.\n5. Safety & Regulatory Compliance\nEnforce company safety policies, operational procedures, and applicable DOT/FMCSA requirements.\nEnsure personnel maintain required training, certifications, and qualifications.\nSupport incident investigations, safety event reviews, and corrective actions.\nPromote a safety-first culture through consistent coaching and accountability.\n6. Reporting & Cross-Functional Coordination\nMonitor daily operational performance against established KPIs.\nMaintain accurate staffing records, operational reports, and shift documentation.\nTrack scheduled versus executed testing activities and document operational delays.\nCoordinate with Engineering, Safety, Maintenance, Training, and other supporting departments.\nCommunicate operational updates, staffing limitations, and performance concerns to leadership.\nIdentify opportunities to improve daily efficiency and operational execution.\nWhat You’ll Need to Succeed \nValid US Driver's license with a safe driving record\nTerminal and Yard Operation experience\nSafety Mindset\nRequires continuous education and training with a passion for knowledge to maintain the highest level of ingenuity and creative thinking.\n\nAppropriate personal protective equipment is required as needed in assigned areas such as the garage\n\nOccasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
