For positions covered by a collective agreement, placement within the range will follow the applicable step or classification.\nThe Building System Technician is responsible for operation, maintenance and troubleshooting on System buildings and equipment. This role involves hands-on work across a variety of building systems, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and life safety systems. The incumbent will inspect, maintain, repair equipment, and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.\nThis posting is to fill 1 position, which is an existing vacancy. Toronto Hydro reserves the right, in alignment with the applicable collective agreement, to finalize the number of positions filled.\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:\nChecks equipment, layout work and makes reports and recommendation, acting in a lead hand function\nPerforms general maintenance of buildings and building systems.\nParticipates in the installation, servicing, repair and operation of electrical and mechanical equipment and systems, including AV systems.\nMaintains building plumbing and drain systems\nAssists trade and service personnel to maintain various building systems\nDistributes, follows up, checks work, answers inquiries and gives guidance as required\nMaintains building and yard electrical equipment\nMaintains and repairs office furniture, equipment and materials\nConducts and or directs work in a manner that is sensitive to customer and public needs \nSupports Capital Project work\nAssists with the maintenance of various Life Safety Systems throughout the facilities\nMaintains stock of building supplies, monitors equipment and maintains records\nOperates a vehicle requiring a class G licence and associated equipment related to the position\nREQUIREMENTS:\nA valid Red Seal certification with a high school diploma or a two (2) year college diploma with relevant demonstrated practical experience\nValid Class G Ontario Driver’s License or higher in good standing\nPhysically able to perform the essential duties in all weather conditions\nKnowledge of the Ontario Building Code and any other applicable legislation\nDemonstrated proficiency in a PC Windows environment and associated desktop software applications\nSafety Performance - Complies with safety guidelines\nCustomer Service & Trust - Provides timely and effective services.
