We arethe world’s first mesh energy infrastructure, uniting communities through resilient, sustainable, and intelligent power. We design, engineer, manufacture, install, and support our systems end-to-end, standing behind them throughout their lifecycle. Torus systems help reduce costs, lower emissions, and protect facilities from outages, while strengthening the security and reliability of the broader utility grid. Torus is committed to American manufacturing, engineering excellence, and building energy systems that last.\nTorus has raised over $267 million from investors like Magnetar, Mercado, ICONIQ and Origin Ventures. The investments are helping to accelerate deployment of modular power plants across utilities, data centers, and industrial sectors. This investor confidence reflects the strength of our team, technology as well as the scale of the problem we are solving.\nAt Torus, you will be part of something larger than a single product or technology. Your work will help build energy infrastructure that supports and strengthens our electrical grid, critical systems, industry, and communities for decades to come. We value accountability, collaboration, and clear thinking. We are looking for people who want to solve hard problems and build things that matter.\nAbout the Role\nThe Electrical Test Engineer verifies our mission at the bench. You'll design, build and test the automated test systems that prove our electrical equipment works (1000v and lower). Energy storage, LV power distribution, grid-tied inverters, motor drives, and control panels all have to pass through your testing gauntlet before they leave our warehouse. Every product that ships has been thoroughly vetted by systems you designed and procedures you built. This role is based at GigaOne in Salt Lake City, on a growing team, working in an environment where your testing catches problems early and keeps quality relentless.\nWho You Are\nYou care about work that matters. The idea of building energy systems that protect communities and stabilize the grid isn't a nice-to-have, it's why you're here.\nYou say what you think, directly and early. You don't bury the lead, you don't wait for permission to raise a problem, and you give feedback the same way you'd want to receive it.\nYou move fast without cutting corners. You know the difference between speed that creates momentum and speed that creates rework. You hold both standards at once.\nYou own your work end to end. You don't hand things over the fence. You follow through, ask questions when something's unclear, and take responsibility when something's off.\nStrong opinions, loosely held. You're optimistic about hard problems. You advocate for what you believe is right and keep an open mind when collaborators suggest reasons for a change.\nYou think in systems. You understand that your work connects to other people's work, and you make decisions with that in mind.\nYou thrive in a “fail fast” environment. You don't need a lot of management to do great work. You need clear context, good people around you, mentorship as you grow, and room to figure things out.\nYou work with a bias toward progress. You know what you're working toward, you can see the board, and you move the right things forward without waiting to be told what's next.\nResponsibilities\nTest System Development and Automation\nDesign, develop, and maintain automated electrical test systems for product development, verification, validation, and production testing.\nDesign and build test fixtures, electrical interfaces, breakout boxes, and test harnesses.\nDevelop and maintain test software using LabVIEW.\nIntegrate NI DAQ hardware, instrumentation, PLCs, and other test equipment into automated test systems.\nDevelop tools for data analysis, visualization, and automated reporting.\nProduct Verification and Validation\nDevelop and execute test plans and procedures to verify electrical, controls, and system-level product requirements.\nPerform functional, performance, fault, stress, and certification testing of energy storage systems, inverters, power electronics, control systems, and associated electrical equipment.\nTest and characterize closed-loop control systems, including PID-controlled systems, grid-interactive controls, and power management functions.\nAnalyze test data, identify trends and anomalies, and report findings to the design team.\nTroubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis\nTroubleshoot electrical, controls, firmware, and communication issues using oscilloscopes, DMMs, power analyzers, DAQ systems, and other laboratory equipment.\nPerform root-cause analysis of test failures and work with design and firmware engineers to identify and implement corrective actions.\nLaboratory Ownership\nMaintain test equipment, calibration records, test fixtures, and laboratory documentation.\nConfigure and operate laboratory equipment including programmable power supplies, electronic loads/load banks, grid simulators, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and data acquisition systems.\nCollaboration, Documentation, and Production Support\nCollaborate with electrical, firmware, software, mechanical, and systems engineers to define test requirements and improve product testability.\nProvide test data and technical feedback to engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.\nDocument test configurations, procedures, results, failures, and corrective actions in clear engineering reports.\nRequired Experience\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent experience)\n2+ years of related experience in Electrical Test Engineering or a related field experience\nProficient with Data Acquisition Systems (National Instruments preferred) \nUnderstand PID control theory and state machines\nProficient in PLC programming, LabVIEW, Python, C/C++ or equivalent\nHands-on experience with electrical measurement tools (DMM, oscilloscope, power meters, etc.) and electrical assembly tools (wire striping/crimping, soldering, etc)\nExperience using power tools (drill, Sawzall, etc.)\nExcellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.\nEffective communication and teamwork skills\nPreferred Experience\nFamiliarity with batteries, motors, inverters and DC-DC converters \nExperience with industrial communication protocols and interfaces (Modbus RTU/TCP, CAN, Ethernet, and RS-232/RS-485)\nAdditional Details\nBackground Check All candidates are subject to a background check.\nLocation + Travel The role is onsite based at GigaOne, our Salt Lake City warehouse (air-conditioned and non air-conditioned areas).
