The ideal candidate will be comfortable mentoring staff, providing technical direction, sharing their experience, and helping team members develop their skills and confidence, while also taking an active role in the design and delivery of mechanical engineering projects.\nTeam Leadership & Mentorship\nMentor and support junior and intermediate engineers, designers, technologists, and drafting staff.\nProvide technical guidance and share knowledge and experience with members of the Mechanical Department.\nHelp staff develop their technical, project management, and client communication skills.\nAssist with coordinating workloads, project assignments, priorities, and scheduling within the department.\nProvide constructive feedback and support the professional development of team members.\nEncourage collaboration, communication, and knowledge sharing within the department.\nServe as a senior resource for staff when technical or project challenges arise.\nAssist with onboarding and development of new employees.\nHelp identify opportunities to improve department standards, processes, quality, and efficiency.\nWork closely with senior management to support the continued development and growth of the Mechanical Department.\nTechnical & Project Leadership\nProvide senior technical expertise for the design and delivery of building mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, building services, process piping, fuel transfer systems, and other mechanical systems.\nLead mechanical projects from concept and preliminary design through detailed design, tender, construction, and project completion.\nReview designs, calculations, drawings, specifications, and other technical documents prepared by department staff.\nProvide technical guidance and assist project teams with resolving complex design and construction issues.\nCoordinate mechanical designs with structural, electrical, architectural, and other project disciplines.\nConduct site investigations, assessments, construction reviews, and meetings as required.\nMaintain familiarity with applicable building codes, standards, industry practices, and emerging technologies.\nProject & Client Management\nDevelop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, architects, consultants, and other project stakeholders.\nAssist with project planning, proposals, scope development, budgets, schedules, and fee management.\nMonitor project progress and help ensure commitments to clients are met.\nIdentify project risks and issues early and take a proactive role in resolving them.\nRepresent Tower Engineering Group professionally in client and project meetings.\nA degree in Mechanical Engineering and registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba.\nA minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience, with significant experience in the design and construction of building mechanical systems.\nStrong technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other building mechanical systems.\nExperience mentoring, supporting, and providing technical direction to other engineering and technical staff.\nThe ability and desire to share knowledge and help develop less experienced team members.\nExperience managing projects, budgets, schedules, and client relationships.\nStrong organizational and decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nThe ability to work collaboratively with other engineering disciplines and senior management.\nTHE PERSON WE'RE LOOKING FOR\nWe are looking for an experienced mechanical engineer who wants to be more than a technical resource.\nThe successful candidate will enjoy mentoring and developing others, sharing their experience, and helping less experienced staff grow professionally.
