The role ensures stability, performance, and operational excellence of core services while driving improvements, automation, and adherence to best practices. Operating as a senior technical point of escalation, the engineer contributes to incident resolution, capacity planning, system enhancements, and seamless delivery of new solutions into production.\nRole Responsibilities\nProvide advanced operational support across multiple platforms, ensuring availability and performance.\nLead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex incidents and performance issues.\nEstablish / maintain best practices, processes and procedures to underpin the operations of the business, including appropriate observability and infrastructure management solutions.\nPerform capacity planning, performance testing, and proactive health assessments.\nEnsure all changes follow governance, documentation, and best-practice standards.\nCollaborate closely with cross-functional engineering, project, and application teams.\nContribute to disaster recovery planning, testing, and documentation.\nIdentify and drive continuous improvement initiatives within operations.\nAct as a senior escalation point within the operations team, guiding junior engineers when required.\nExperience / Competences\nEssential\nStrong experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments.\nStrong administration experience with Microsoft Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) including:Active Directory\nGroup Policy\nDNS / DHCP\nCertificate Services\nFile and Print Services\nWindows Clustering\nPowerShell automation\n\nStrong administration experience with Linux operating systems including:Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)\nSUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES)\nUser, storage and filesystem administration\nPackage and patch management\nSystem performance analysis and troubleshooting\nLinux security hardening\nShell scripting (Bash)\n\nExperience managing and supporting:VMware vSphere and ESXi\nEnterprise storage platforms\nBackup and recovery solutions\nDisaster recovery environments\nExperience supporting cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Azure.\n\nStrong scripting and automation skills using: PowerShell\nBash\nPython\n\nExperience with infrastructure monitoring and observability platforms.\nStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across Windows, Linux, virtualisation, storage, networking and cloud technologies.\nExperience working within ITIL-based operational and change management processes.\nDesired\nRed Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or RHCE certification.\nMicrosoft Certified Windows Server or Azure certifications.\nExperience with Ansible, Terraform or Infrastructure as Code tooling.\nExperience with Kubernetes, Docker and container platforms.\nFamiliarity with enterprise security tooling, vulnerability management and compliance frameworks.\nExperience contributing to infrastructure transformation or optimisation programmes.\nAwareness of security and compliance practices within database estates.\nExperience working in financial services or other regulated environments.\nKnowledge of configuration management or Infrastructure-as-Code tools.\nAbility to mentor and support junior team members.\n#LI-MID #LI-Hybrid\nNot The Perfect Fit?\nConcerned that you may not meet the criteria precisely?
