The successful candidate will embody these traits and will be a curious problem solver focused on continuous improvement.\nResponsibilities include:\nEnsures safe and reliable operation in the lab, driving high safety standards\nActively participate in site safety programs, Technical Center Chemical Hygiene Program and lead safety initiatives.\nCollaborate on a cross-functional process team to monitor the production process, troubleshoot production issues, and identify and champion process improvements.\nPartners with production engineers to monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot unit performance.\nProvide technical guidance and support to manufacturing and production teams for chemical processes.\nChampion process chemistry management program - Manage process chemistry vendor to ensure adequate chemical dosage, monitor process chemistry residuals and evaluate key performance indicators from regular sampling to determine process chemistry program effectiveness and unit optimization.\nDrive improvements in process chemistry and analytical tools/techniques.\nDevelop and maintain unit process chemistry expertise, continuously build a body of technical knowledge around unit operation and processes to be the technical subject matter expert.\nServe as a liaison between operations and R&D to facilitate plant trials and champion process improvements.\nProvide analytical support for the HNO QC Lab and Plant including analytical data review/troubleshooting, new method development, and management of outsourced samples.\nCollaborate cross-functionally to conduct and document statistical evaluation of proposed specifications for raw materials and finished products while also managing specification changes for assigned process units.\nConduct quality assessment of new raw materials, new chemicals, and process unit changes.\nLead and support functions of the HNO quality management system (QMS) including SQC/Calibration program, PM and laboratory maintenance program, sample schedules, and site computer applications and resources (LIMS, OpenLab, NWA, etc.)\nPlan and document projects and deliver results according to established timelines.\nPerform specialized sampling, non-routine analyses, and assessment of process unit performance as required by the business.\nDevelop operating procedures and provide training for testing equipment and new methods of test.\nFacilitates and participates in Root Cause Investigations.\nWork with customers and outside labs to resolve analytical discrepancies.\nWork in the field with operations and maintenance during turnarounds.\nSpend time in the field working with operations.\nCommunicate and document results in concise format.\nRole Specific Knowledge:\nExperience in Quality Assurance best practices\nISO 9000 experience (desired but not mandatory)\nSix Sigma knowledge (desired but not mandatory)\nExperience with method development and troubleshooting gas chromatography, ion chromatography, total organic carbon analysis, Karl Fisher, and titrations.\nCommunication and leadership skills with cross-functional teams\nAbility to manage ambiguity, communicate and lead effectively in cross-functional teams\nEducation, Licensure, and Experience:\nBachelor’s degree in chemistry\nMinimum of 4 years of experience in process chemistry and/or analytical laboratories\n
