We support TPG and its portfolio companies by assessing sustainability performance and advising on risk mitigation and value-creation opportunities.\nAs we continue to grow, we are leveraging our capabilities in new and innovative ways and sharing our learnings with the broader investment and research communities.\nDescription of Position\nTPG has an exciting opportunity to join its Y Analytics team in D.C. The Climate Impact Associate will be responsible for impact assessments and decision-making support provided to The Rise Fund and TPG Rise Climate. The associate will delve deeply into Rise’s climate and energy transition-related thematic areas, such as power, transport, industrials, adaptation, and resilience.\nPrincipal Responsibilities\nConducting impact-related assessments (diligence and ex-post evaluation and advisory) of potential investments and portfolio companies for The Rise Platform. This work includes desk research, research interpretation, data analysis, and modeling to quantify the potential environmental and social impact of a company. The work requires an inquisitive mindset and the ability to think deeply, logically, and critically about nuances in impact. \nCommunicating with deal team professionals on active deals, with the rigor and turnaround times of private equity deal flow. The associate must deliver high-quality deliverables at a fast pace in line with TPG’s private equity diligence cycle. This requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work efficiently and identify what truly matters, and a pragmatic client service orientation. \nOther research and content development as needed. The associate will play a cross-functional role on the Y Analytics team and will help support our continued growth. Additional responsibilities may include: conducting research deep dives and analysis related to a particular climate impact sector or research theme, driving a critical operational or organizational team function, etc. \nRequirements\nUndergraduate degree plus a minimum of 2 years of full-time work experience. Ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience in consulting, financial services, research and analytics, international development, or climate impact focused professional services, ideally in climate and energy transition related areas. The position is also a strong match for candidates with a master’s or other graduate degree. \nStrong strategic thinking and problem-solving: must be able to navigate challenges with creative problem-solving ability and a can-do attitude. This includes being able to work under tight timelines with incomplete information and wading through ambiguity in order to produce actionable, decision-relevant insights and recommendations.\n Ability to find, interpret and synthesize research studies of a highly quantitative nature under tight timelines, such as life cycle assessments (LCAs), various sector decarbonization scenarios, and microeconomic research. Experience contributing to academic research and/or performing literature reviews is a plus. \nStrong client relationship management skills and experience.\nIntellectual curiosity and ability to analyze companies in multiple industries/sectors, across climate and energy-related sectors and social impact sectors. \nExceptional quantitative analytics capabilities: must be able to efficiently and accurately build quantitative models to analyze impact using research, company data, and third-party data. \nExceptional written and verbal communication: must be able to synthesize findings from research and data analysis in presentations and written documents, and communicate these to internal and external senior executives.\nAbility to produce polished and client-ready deliverables, including skilled use of MS PowerPoint.\nDemonstrated ownership and self-direction: must be able to drive work forward independently, self-guide research and manage projects, and deliver top quality, highly polished outputs by set deadlines. \nHighly collaborative: must be a strong team player who is effective in a fast-paced, teamwork- heavy, cross-functional environment.\nCommitment to Y Analytics’ mission to improve the future of humanity and our planet through effective capital allocation for the greater good. \nAlignment to team values, including appreciation for diversity of people, experiences, and opinions;
