Our diverse technical strengths span emerging wireless innovations and engineering support to the armed services.\nTRABUS has been recognized on the Inc. 5000 list over the years, reflecting our continued growth and commitment to delivering innovative, mission-focused solutions to our customers.\nPOSITION SUMMARY\nTRABUS has an opportunity for a Senior Software Development Engineer/Manager to lead the architecture, design, and implementation of core software components for next-generation Software-Defined Radio (SDR) wireless mesh networking systems. In this role, you will drive the development of resilient ad-hoc mesh networking protocols, architect zero-trust encryption frameworks, and optimize embedded database storage for real-time edge performance in mission-critical environments.\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nLead the technical design and optimization of tactical routing algorithms, dynamic topology discovery, and low-latency networking protocols for resilient SDR mesh networks.\nArchitect and implement end-to-end cryptographic frameworks, key management protocols (KMP), and secure boot/data-at-rest solutions tailored for low-bandwidth or contested RF environments.\nDesign and tune lightweight embedded database systems such as SQLite, DuckDB, LMDB, or custom time-series engines to manage high-throughput packet logging, state tracking, and local data persistence under tight memory limits.\nWrite production-grade, low-latency C/C++ or Rust software targeted for Linux-based SDR hardware, taking ownership of subsystem performance from concept through field deployment.\nMentor junior and mid-level engineers, drive code reviews, lead technical trade studies, and collaborate closely with systems, RF, and hardware engineering teams.\nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS\n7+ years of professional software engineering & development management experience.\nAdvanced proficiency in modern C++ (20/23), C, or Rust.\nExtensive experience with Layer 2/3 networking, TCP/IP, UDP, custom packet processing, and wireless mesh routing protocols such as OLSR, BATMAN-adv, or AODV.\nDeep hands-on experience with cryptographic standards including AES-GCM, TLS 1.3, ECC, IPsec, NSA Type 1, or Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) standards.\nProven experience implementing and optimizing embedded relational, key-value, or time-series databases in constrained embedded systems.\nDirect experience with SDR frameworks such as GNU Radio, UHD, or REDHAWK and RF physical-layer interactions.\nU.S. Citizenship is required.\nDESIRED QUALIFICATIONS\nActive DoD Security Clearance (Secret or Top Secret/SCI).\nExperience with MIL-STD communications protocols, anti-jamming techniques, or low-probability-of-intercept/detection (LPI/LPD) waveforms.\nFamiliarity with containerization tools such as Docker or Podman and automated CI/CD workflows for secure embedded targets.\nEDUCATION\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.\nBENEFITS\nPaid Time Off\nHolidays\nHealth Insurance\nDental Insurance\nVision Insurance\nFlexible Spending Account\n401(k)\nLife & AD&D Insurance\nEQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY\nTrabus Technologies is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
