In this role, you will work side by side with TRABUS developers to verify that the software we deliver to government and commercial customers is reliable and meets customer and mission requirements. You will design and automate tests across Python/FastAPI back-end services and React/TypeScript web applications supporting diverse projects spanning marine transportation, defense sustainment, and data analytics platforms. This position may be filled at Level I (0-2 years of experience) or Level II (2+ years of experience), depending on qualifications.\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nDesign, develop, and maintain automated end-to-end and UI tests for React/TypeScript web applications using Playwright.\n\nDevelop and maintain automated unit, API, and integration tests for Python/FastAPI back-end services using pytest.\n\nCreate test plans, test cases, and test procedures traceable to system requirements and user-story acceptance criteria.\n\nExecute functional, regression, and exploratory testing; document, triage, and track defects through resolution with the development team.\n\nRun and maintain automated test suites within the team's continuous integration process to catch regressions early.\n\nParticipate in Agile meetings, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives, and help ensure user stories have clear, testable acceptance criteria.\n\nSupport system integration, verification, and validation activities, and document test results for customer and internal review.\n\nMaintain test data, test environments, and testing documentation across multiple concurrent projects.\n\nREQUIREMENTS\nSoftware Test Engineer I\nWorking knowledge of Python and familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript.\n\nUnderstanding of software testing fundamentals (unit, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing) and the software development lifecycle.\n\nBasic familiarity with version control (Git).\n\nStrong attention to detail and clear written communication, including the ability to write precise, reproducible defect reports.\n\nMust currently hold an active, DoD-adjudicated Secret security clearance.\n\nSoftware Test Engineer II (in addition to Level I requirements)\n2+ years of professional experience in software testing, test automation, or software development.\n\nDemonstrated experience building and maintaining automated test suites using frameworks such as pytest or Playwright.\n\nDemonstrated experience contributing across a complete software development lifecycle (design, implementation, testing, and deployment).\n\nDESIRED\nHands-on experience with Playwright for browser-based test automation.\n\nExperience testing REST APIs, including services built with FastAPI.\n\nExperience with React and TypeScript.\n\nExperience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins).\n\nExperience working within DoD or other federal government contracts.\n\nExperience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.\n\nExposure to AI/ML, data analytics, or data-intensive software platforms.\n\nISTQB Certified Tester (Foundation Level) or a similar software testing certification.\n\nEDUCATION\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM discipline required; equivalent practical experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.\nBENEFITS\nPaid Time Off\n\nHolidays\n\nHealth Insurance\n\nDental Insurance\n\nVision Insurance\n\nFlexible Spending Account\n\n401(k)\n\nLife AD&D\n\nActive DoD-adjudicated Secret security clearance required.\nTrabus Technologies is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
