Candidates will be evaluated and considered for the level most closely aligned with their qualifications.\nJOB SUMMARY:\nWe are seeking a Software Developer to support the modernization, enhancement, integration, and sustainment of mission-critical applications operating within classified DoD environments.\nThis position focuses on analyzing, modernizing, and refactoring large legacy Java applications while supporting the transition toward modern containerized architectures. The successful candidate will work across the full software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, integration, deployment, documentation, and demonstration activities.\nThe ideal candidate possesses strong Java development experience across both legacy and modern application architectures and is comfortable working with enterprise messaging systems, Oracle databases, containerized deployments, and Kubernetes-based environments.\nSUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:\nAnalyze, maintain, enhance, and modernize existing Java-based applications and services.\nRefactor legacy software systems into maintainable, scalable, and supportable architectures.\nAnalyze large codebases, identify dependencies, assess technical debt, and develop modernization recommendations.\nDesign, develop, test, debug, and deploy software solutions supporting mission-critical defense systems.\nDevelop RESTful and gRPC-based services and APIs.\nDevelop and maintain messaging and integration solutions using JMS and enterprise messaging platforms.\nIntegrate applications with Oracle databases and backend data services.\nDevelop containerized applications using Docker and support deployment into Kubernetes environments.\nCreate deployment artifacts, runtime configurations, logging configurations, and health monitoring capabilities.\nIndependently own technical deliverables from requirements through deployment and demonstration.\nREQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:\nStrong Java development experience.\nExperience with Java EE/J2EE, EJB, JDBC, JNDI, JMS, RMI, and multithreaded applications.\nExperience with WebLogic, WebSphere, JBoss, or similar application servers.\nExperience developing REST APIs, gRPC services, and Spring Boot applications.\nExperience integrating with Oracle databases.\nExperience with IBM MQ, JMS, or equivalent enterprise messaging technologies.\nExperience analyzing and refactoring legacy software systems.\nStrong troubleshooting and debugging skills.\nJava, Spring Boot, REST, gRPC, Enterprise Java, Distributed Systems, and Multithreading.\nIBM MQ, JMS, Enterprise Messaging, Service Integration, and API Development.\nOracle Database, JDBC, SQL Development, and Data Integration.\nDocker, Container Development, Runtime Configuration, Logging, Health Monitoring, and Kubernetes Deployments.\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: \nWorking experience with C or C++.\nExperience supporting large-scale modernization initiatives.\nExperience migrating legacy applications into containerized architectures.\nExperience supporting CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.\nExperience with microservices architectures.\nExperience supporting classified DoD development environments.\nEDUCATION: \nBachelor degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline; equivalent experience considered.\n5+ years of software development experience in enterprise Java environments preferred.\nLOCATION: Full Time/ On-Site in Colorado Springs\nCLEARANCE REQUIRMENT: Active (or active within 24months) Secret Clearance Minimum - Can support TS\nDOD 8570 REQUIREMENT: IAT - Level II\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS:\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
