About Trackonomy

Trackonomy is pioneering a transformative network of interconnected objects. Our goal is to bring inanimate objects to life, enabling them to communicate, think, and interact in real time. We are building the operating system for the connected world-one object and sensor at a time.

Our customers span logistics, industrial, utilities, healthcare, and government sectors, using our solutions for predictive maintenance, workflow optimization, asset protection, safety, security, and environmental monitoring. Backed by leading investors including Kleiner Perkins and 8VC, Trackonomy is one of Silicon Valley’s fastest-growing IoT companies.

Our executive leadership team has worked together for more than two decades, holding key leadership positions at companies including Flextronics, Heptagon, GT-Nexus, and Digital Motors Corporation. Together, they have engineered breakthrough technology that is delivering extraordinary results for customers around the world.

Are you ready to be part of the next chapter in Silicon Valley’s hyper-growth IoT success story?

The Role

We're hiring an IT Manager to own IT operations, infrastructure, and information security for Trackonomy company-wide. Based in our Clayton, NC office, this person will be the primary owner of our security and compliance posture (including SOC 2), our device and access management programs, and the day-to-day systems that keep a distributed, fast-growing team productive. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role for someone who is equally comfortable writing policy, configuring a firewall, and partnering with HR and Legal on sensitive access decisions.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide remote and in-person troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues across the company; respond to and resolve help desk tickets, phone calls, and email support requests in a timely manner.
  • Maintain end-user computer networks and systems, including Active Directory/Azure AD, VPNs, routers, and other physical hardware.
  • Own the new-hire IT experience - equipment setup, account provisioning, and access configuration - and manage offboarding, including equipment retrieval and data backup.
  • Maintain an accurate IT asset inventory, software license records, and systems documentation.
  • Ensure required security applications and MDM (e.g., Intune) are deployed and verified on all laptops prior to deployment, and keep antivirus/endpoint protection (e.g., Microsoft 365 Defender) up to date across the fleet.
  • Administer Google Workspace and/or Microsoft 365, including user provisioning and security settings.
  • Test and schedule computer patches and upgrades and evaluate new software deployments before rollout.
  • Install and configure network equipment; diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues, including LAN and wireless network administration across office locations.
  • Support the company's SOC 2 compliance program, including policy adherence and evidence collection, and support access reviews and the risk register.
  • Work across cross-functional teams and with vendors to identify, prioritize, and resolve issues, and to support new IT initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities at the Manager Level

Security, Risk & Compliance Ownership

  • Own the Vanta platform, associated alerts, and overall SOC 2 compliance program end-to-end; coordinate with external auditors and provide documentation and support during audits.
  • Author and maintain infosec policies (standard images/configurations, laptop retention, AI usage, Drive shared folders, external media use) and monitor company-wide adherence.
  • Own the risk register; evaluate new tools proposed by employees and provide security and operational recommendations.
  • Own the AI governance program: maintain a current inventory of AI tools in use across the organization and manage access to AI accounts.
  • Own regular access reviews and account ownership monitoring, ensuring departed employees' accounts and licenses are promptly deprovisioned.
  • Monitor end-user activity and Google suspicious-login alerts for anomalies; conduct forensics as needed.
  • Own vendor and data-processor risk reviews for any tool that touches employee data.
  • Serve as IT's primary counterpart to HR and Legal on technology decisions involving employee data, monitoring, or access, including litigation discovery/e-discovery support and the technical execution of workforce changes.

Infrastructure, Vendor & Budget Ownership

  • Own the architecture, performance, and maintenance of company IT systems, including networking, file management, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise software.
  • Set up and configure firewalls across all company offices.
  • Review system and application configurations on a regular basis to ensure they meet security and operational needs.
  • Manage relationships with IT vendors and MSPs, including contract review, performance tracking, and SLA enforcement.
  • Own the IT budget: forecasting, expense management, and cost optimization for hardware, software, and services.

International Team management and site coverage

  • Manage strategy and IT representatives (full time and part time) in a matrix organization of all sites globally (sites in North Carolina, California, Mexico, Germany and Thailand)
  • Establish structures and governance systems to manage the sites remotely and to leverage the team globally

Core Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Intune (MDM), and Microsoft 365 Defender for Endpoints.
  • Experience administering Google Workspace and/or Microsoft 365.
  • Basic understanding of network engineering concepts and protocols (SSL, TCP, etc.) and firewall technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills, with the ability to support a distributed team across multiple countries and time zones.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Additional Qualifications at the Manager Level

  • 5+ years of progressive IT experience spanning systems administration, security, compliance, and end-user support.
  • Working familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and SOC 2, ideally including hands-on SOC 2 audit experience.
  • Experience with a compliance automation platform (e.g., Vanta) and security audit tools on public cloud platforms, particularly Azure.
  • Understanding of OWASP and vulnerability scanning tools.
  • Experience managing IT budgets and vendor/MSP contracts.
  • Comfortable partnering with HR and Legal on sensitive, employee-data-related technology decisions.

Nice to Have

  • Spanish fluency.
  • Experience supporting both office and manufacturing/production environments.
  • Security certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or CISM.
