Expect startup pace and real ownership, backed by the data and funding of a company that has already proven the model at scale.\nAbout the role\nWe’re building LUMA, a drive-through vehicle inspection scanner that combines multi-camera capture, active illumination, and multiple sensor modalities to produce high-fidelity vehicle imagery and measurements.\nWe’re looking for an Embedded Systems Engineer to help build and evolve the device-side (edge) software and firmware stack - controlling cameras and sensors, synchronizing capture, and building new measurement capabilities. The role sits at the intersection of embedded software, hardware integration, and sensor/vision data processing. You’ll take features from quick prototype through to production-grade reliability, and you’ll see them run on real vehicles.\nWhat you’ll do\nBuild and maintain embedded Linux software and firmware for the camera and sensor stack.\n\nMaintain and improve camera control software: triggering, timing, health monitoring, and error recovery.\n\nMaintain and improve sensor control software: presence/distance/measurement sensors, calibration, and fault handling.\n\nBuild signal processing pipelines - e.g. converting laser-triangulation outputs into 2D tread-depth maps, post-processing stereo depth, filtering/denoising, and coordinate transforms.\n\nPrototype fast, then harden to production-grade reliability.\n\nSupport integration and deployments: bring up new modules, validate in the lab and on-vehicle, debug issues, and ship fixes.\n\nWhat we’re looking for\n3+ years of experience in embedded engineering.\n\nProduction coding in C/C++ and/or Python, backed by strong software engineering fundamentals (OOP, testing, debugging, version control).\n\nEmbedded Linux expertise, including system services, supervision, logging, and performance profiling.\n\nHands-on hardware & sensor integration using standard protocols (UART, I2C, SPI, GPIO) and industrial interfaces (RS-485, CAN, or Modbus).\n\nPractical lab & bring-up skills: proficient with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, basic soldering/wiring, and reading datasheets/schematics.\n\nModern developer workflow: experience using AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, OpenAI Codex) to rapidly iterate high-quality code.\n\nOwnership mindset: ability to navigate ambiguous requirements, solve tough problems, and ship maintainable systems in a fast-paced environment.\n\nWhat success looks like\nCamera and sensor stacks run reliably for months, with clear telemetry and graceful recovery.\n\nNew capabilities move from prototype → validated pipeline → production release.\n\nHardware bring-up gets
