Business Development Executive

Job overview:

The Business Development Executive will be responsible for developing and converting new business opportunities within the Contract for Difference (CFD) Industry. Working as part of the Sales team and reporting to the Rest of the World Country Head, this role will focus on building strong client relationships, managing a book of clients and supporting revenue growth through effective account development and retention.

Key responsibilities:

• Drive the conversion of submitted applications and newly opened accounts into active trading accounts through structured follow-up, clear communication and effective client engagement.
• Proactively contact applicants and new account holders to understand their objectives, address questions or barriers, and support them through the activation journey.
• Manage and prioritise a pipeline of applications, new accounts and inactive accounts, ensuring timely follow-up and accurate tracking of activation status.
• Retain and develop existing active clients and affiliates by maintaining regular contact, identifying changes in client needs and encouraging continued trading activity.
• Build strong relationships with new and existing clients and affiliates, delivering a professional, responsive and commercially focused client experience.
• Identify opportunities to increase client engagement, trading frequency and account value through relevant product knowledge, market awareness and consultative conversations.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve onboarding queries, account issues, compliance requirements or operational barriers that may prevent clients from becoming active.
• Maintain accurate CRM records covering application progress, account activation, client contact, trading status, follow-up actions and retention activity.
• Monitor client activity, market developments and feedback to identify risks to retention and opportunities for re-engagement.
• Meet agreed targets and reporting requirements relating to account activation, active client retention, trading activity and revenue growth.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Sales, Business Development or client-facing commercial role within the Finance sector.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with clients and internal stakeholders.
• Proven ability to identify opportunities, qualify prospects and progress leads through a structured sales process.
• Confident user of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
• Experience using CRM systems to manage pipeline, activity and customer records.
• Good commercial awareness and understanding of client needs in financial services or related markets.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a target-driven environment.
• Self-motivated, resilient and comfortable working independently in a hybrid model while contributing to team goals.
• A degree or professional qualification in business, finance, marketing or a related discipline would be advantageous but is not essential.
