Fridays, choose your work location, balancing what your work requires.Payroll Tax Analyst - Trane Technologies\nPosition Summary:\nTrane Technologies is seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and forward-thinking Payroll Tax Analyst to join our team. This role is responsible for supporting payroll tax operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, and helping drive process improvements across payroll tax activities. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, a continuous improvement mindset, and a passion for innovation in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.\nKey Responsibilities:\nManage payroll tax processes, including tax setup, withholding, reporting, reconciliation, and remittance activities.\nEnsure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations.\nSupport payroll tax filings, amendments, notices, and agency correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.\nResearch and resolve payroll tax discrepancies, employee tax issues, and jurisdictional questions.\nPartner with payroll, HR, finance, and external vendors to support accurate tax treatment and reporting.\nMaintain and validate payroll tax data in Workday and ADP SmartCompliance.\nPerform audits, account reconciliations, and balancing activities related to payroll tax filings and general ledger impacts.\nDevelop reports, analyze trends, and identify risks or opportunities for improvement using advanced Excel skills.\nRecommend and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.\nAssist with year-end payroll tax activities, including W-2 review and related reconciliation processes.\nDocument procedures and maintain strong internal controls to support compliance and operational excellence.\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.\nExperience in payroll tax, payroll operations, or a related compliance/accounting function.\nHands-on experience with Workday and ADP SmartCompliance is required.\nAdvanced Excel skills required, including data analysis, reconciliations, pivot tables, lookups, and working with large datasets.\nStrong knowledge of payroll tax regulations and compliance practices.\nExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.\nStrong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.\nEffective written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to work independently while collaborating across teams.\nDemonstrated interest in innovation, process improvement, and finding better ways of working.\nPreferred Characteristics\nCurious and proactive mindset with a desire to improve processes.\nComfortable identifying inefficiencies and proposing practical solutions.\nStrong systems aptitude and interest in leveraging technology to streamline payroll tax operations.\nAdaptable and resilient in a dynamic environment.\nCommitted to accuracy, compliance, and continuous learning.\nAnnual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range:\n$56,300.00 - $101,394.99Compensation Type:\nSalaryIncentive Eligible:\nNoSales Commission Eligible:\nNoDisclaimer: We strive to provide competitive compensation for this position, tailored to a variety of factors.
