Operating over 13,000 km of high-voltage transmission lines and 128 substations across NSW and the ACT, we connect electricity generators to the distribution network powering homes, businesses, and communities.
As Australia accelerates its energy transition, the work we do has never been more significant.
About the role
As part of the Major Projects Development Team, you'll lead the development of major power infrastructure projects from concept through to project definition.
You'll prepare project scopes, engineering concepts, feasibility assessments, support cost estimates and schedules and conduct risk assessments to support investment and approval decisions.
Working closely with planning, design, operations and delivery teams, you'll help deliver practical, cost-effective solutions for substations, transmission lines and network augmentation projects.
This role represents a genuine opportunity to help shape the future of energy infrastructure through meaningful, high-impact project work.
What you'll do
- Lead the development of project scopes, requirements, feasibility studies and option assessments for major transmission infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with network planning needs and long-term strategic objectives
- Develop concept designs and delivery strategies for substations, transmission lines and reactive plants, ensuring practical, cost-effective and future-ready solutions.
- Facilitate engineering workshops and technical reviews to ensure proposed solutions are practical, constructible and aligned with applicable standards and business requirements
- Provide support in estimating capital cost, scheduling project, conducting risk assessments and preparing business case documentation to facilitate project approvals and successful delivery outcomes.
- Define project staging, delivery strategies and implementation approaches to support efficient execution while minimising network and operational impacts
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to manage project risks, resolve technical challenges and drive informed decision-making throughout project development.
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary-qualified Electrical Engineer with Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status
- Strong technical knowledge of substation and transmission infrastructures, with proven experience in feasibility assessments, option analysis, concept design development, and project development for large-scale power infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated ability to develop power project scopes, cost estimates, schedules, business cases and investment proposals that support informed decision-making.
- Proven stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, consultants and external partners to achieve project outcomes.
- Knowledge of project risk management, Australian engineering standards and project delivery frameworks; professional accreditation (CPEng or equivalent) and experience with EHV transmission projects highly regarded.
