In this role, you’ll report to the Supervisor, Corporate Tax and play a key part in the day-to-day functions of the tax team.\nThis position is based out of our Downtown Calgary Head Office, with the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule.\nA DAY IN THE LIFE\nPrepare quarterly tax provision working papers, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and analyses\nSupport the preparation of Canadian corporate income tax returns and other compliance filings\nSupport the preparation and filing of indirect tax returns (GST/HST, PST, and other applicable jurisdictions)\nAssist with tax audits by compiling requested information and maintaining organized supporting documentation\nParticipate in improving tax processes, templates, and documentation by identifying inefficiencies and supporting implementation of improvements\nResponding to tax queries and providing support to internal operations and finance personnel\nDraft tax research memos and assist with special projects such as reorganizations, acquisitions and other ad hoc tax projects as required. \nABOUT YOU\nBusiness/Accounting degree or equivalent;\nCPA designation;\n3-5 years of Canadian corporate tax experience;\nPursuing or planning to pursue CPA In-Depth Tax Program;\nStrong knowledge of IFRS and tax accounting;\nProficiency in Microsoft Excel;\nExperience with SAP/S4 Hana and Corporate TaxPrep software is considered an asset;\nSelf-motivated with strong interpersonal skills, and excellent communication skills both written and verbal;\nAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment;\nSkilled in collecting and analyzing complex data and drawing logical conclusions;\nExcellent teamwork and team building skills.\nTHE PERKS\nCompetitive salary \nAnnual and long-term incentives available for select roles \nCompany-matching pension plan\nFlexible health benefits for you and your family \nGenerous vacation and personal days \nLearning and development programs\nEmployee recognition and rewards\nAnnual wellness allowance\nExplore our Careers site to see how we support your growth and wellbeing www.transalta.com/careers.\nOUR CULTURE\nAt TransAlta, we’re driven by a Culture of Results, Learning, and Purpose.
