If you’re ready to make a real impact in a dynamic industry, you bring the energy - we’ll provide the platform.\nABOUT THE ROLE\nWe’re looking for a US Tax Analyst to join our Tax Team on a Full-Time basis. In this role, you’ll report to the Tax Manager and play a key part in supporting US tax compliance and reporting for TransAlta. This individual will be responsible for preparing US tax provisions, supporting US tax compliance and audits, conducting tax research, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve tax-related matters.\nThis position is based out of our Downtown Calgary Head Office, with the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule.\nA DAY IN THE LIFE\nPrepare quarterly and annual US tax provisions, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and analysis;\nPrepare quarterly US tax instalments and assist with payment request processes;\nAssist with the preparation of the US indirect tax returns;\nSupport the preparation of US corporate and partnership tax returns and other compliance filings; \nAssist with US federal and state tax audits, including preparing and maintaining supporting documentation for government audits;\nRespond to tax queries and provide support to internal operations and finance personnel; \nMaintain organized tax files, documentation, and trackers to support compliance and reporting processes; \nParticipate in improving tax processes, templates, and documentation by identifying inefficiencies and supporting implementation of improvements; and \nAssist with tax research, data analysis, and other ad hoc tax projects as assigned.\nABOUT YOU\nSelf-motivated with strong interpersonal skills\nClear communication skills both written and verbal\nAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment\nStrong knowledge of Excel and SAP an asset\nHigh level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability \nDemonstrates attention to details\nBusiness/Accounting degree or equivalent\nUS CPA designation (or actively working towards it) preferred\n1-3 years of corporate US tax experience\nTHE PERKS\nCompetitive salary \nAnnual and long-term incentives available for select roles \nCompany-matching pension plan\nFlexible health benefits for you and your family \nGenerous vacation and personal days \nLearning and development programs\nEmployee recognition and rewards\nAnnual wellness allowance\nExplore our Careers site to see how we support your growth and wellbeing www.transalta.com/careers.\nOUR CULTURE\nAt TransAlta, we’re driven by a Culture of Results, Learning, and Purpose.
