Ensure reported situations are acknowledged properly.\nEnsurethe Control of Work process is complied with when planning and managing the execution of work.\nEnsure major accident barriers / controls are maintained.\nEnsuresafe and organized work areas are maintained.\nUnderstandyour role in an emergency, as designated in the Emergency Response Plan and Station Bill.\nLeador participate in all emergency drills and exercises, as required.\nEnsurechange is properly controlled and managed.\nDUTIES:\nThe underlying expectation is that all duties are carried out in compliance with the Company Operational Discipline expectations and HSE requirements. When considering assignment of duties for the 2nd Mate, the Supervisor and the 2nd Mate will apply the rules of task planning to determine if the assigned role is appropriate. This means confirming that the individuals involved have the knowledge, skills, and experience to carry out the task, and the task plan complies with policy before they are authorized to proceed. \nGeneral Duties:\nOperations/Maintenance:\nSupervise and organize daily deck crew (lifting operations) and marine crew (3rd Mate, AB’s and OS’s) operations.\nMonitor variable deck load on a daily basis to calculate and maintain the rig’s stability.\nPrepare the daily and weekly stability report for the rig.\nSupervise the transfer of liquids (Fuel, base oil, brine, water, mud) and bulk materials to and from rig. Keep records of all materials movement.\nAssist with the operation of the ballast control system where applicable.\nAssist in maintaining the rig in a stable condition and at the correct draft and trim.\nEnsure all navigation operations are conducted in accordance to Company Policies and Procedures.\nPerform Preventive Maintenance on marine, life-saving, and firefighting equipment.\nAssist with running hydrophones and subsea beacons.\nEnsure that all defects and anomalies are reported to the Chief Mate/Master and relevant department heads. Maintain records of deficiencies and ensure they are addressed.\nAssist Watch Officers with updating and maintaining all charts and vessel publications and logbooks.\nAssist Chief/Senior Mate and Master with updating and maintaining information in the company maintenance management and other rig information systems.\nNorway Specific: Responsible position for operation as described in NORSOK R003 “safe use of lifting equipment” sections.\nPersonnel:\nPromote and maintain good working relationships with other departments, third-party personnel and Customer representatives.\nMentor, coach, develop and train crew members to ensure they are competent to work at their current and next job level.\nProvide leadership and motivation to the marine crews.
